The Coeur d’Alene Tribe-owned course earned a Top 100 ranking for U.S. Resort Courses.
WORLEY, Idaho — Circling Raven Golf Club is moving up in the ranks and earning some national recognition.
The Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort Hotel announced Friday the course improved by 15 places from last year’s ranking of America’s “Top 200 U.S. Resort Courses,” earning No. 98 in this year’s ranking published by Golfweek and USA TODAY.
Owned and operated by the Coeur d’Alene Tribe (and named for a seminal tribal chief), and designed by Gene Bates, Circling Raven spectacularly winds over more than 600 acres, four times more acreage than the average course globally according to the resort.
“As with all amenities of our Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort Hotel, Circling Raven was built to provide guests and visitors to our property with an inspiring leisure option – just like our spa, restaurants, and casino,” said CEO Laura Penney. “We are honored that Golfweek and USA TODAY rate Circling Raven so highly – positive reinforcement that we are successfully paying homage to our tribal ancestors and using the land in a meaningful, nurturing way while providing exceptional experiences for our guests.”
The only other nearby resort course included in the list is at Coeur d’Alene Resort, which is rated No. 169, down from its 161 ranking last year.
The resort notes Circling Raven’s landscape includes no surrounding development.
“The pristine natural setting inspires and revitalizes golfers. Superb playing conditions are equally well regarded. Circling Raven consistently maintains first-class tees, fairways, and greens – a fact that was often and emphatically praised by women professional players who competed in the Circling Raven Championship, an Epson “Road to the LPGA” Tour event played here from 2021-2023,” the resort’s press release stated.
Located approximately 50 minutes from Spokane International Airport (GEG), Circling Raven measures 7,189 yards from the rear tee boxes. The resort says its retail shop has also been nationally honored, and the award-winning clubhouse also boasts the Twisted Earth Grill with food, beverages and merchandise options.
