SAN LUIS OBISPO – Three months removed from its final fall tournament, the Cal Poly men’s golf program begins the spring portion of its 2025-26 season at CSUN’s Feb. 2-3 Bill Cullum Invitational.
Action at the 7,008-yard, par-72 Saticoy Club opens with 36 holes Monday, Feb. 2 before a final 18 scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 3. Cal Poly’s entry for the Bill Cullum Invitational was only confirmed Thursday afternoon as the Mustangs saw their previously scheduled participation at College of Charleston’s Feb. 2-3 Battle at Briar’s Creek cancelled due to anticipated low temperatures in the Palmetto State.
The Bill Cullum Invitational serves as the first of six spring tournaments prior to the May 3-5 Big West Championship. The Mustangs competed in four fall tournaments, closing with the program’s own Preserve Golf Club Collegiate in Carmel Valley.
Sophomore Nolan Kuszyk (above) – an All-Big West second team honoree last spring – has emerged as Cal Poly’s low scorer after the opening 12 rounds of the season with a 72.9 stroke average. Junior Louis Pilod sits second at 73.3 and with two rounds in the 60s. Freshmen Rafael Bobo-Lloret (73.6) and Zihao Wang (73.7) follow as Cal Poly’s low scorers.
Following the Feb. 2-3 Bill Cullum Invitational, Cal Poly resumes tournament action at the Feb. 23-25 Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate at the Classic Club (Palm Desert, Calif.).
