LIV Golf have added a surprise name to their broadcast team for the 2026 season…

Within the first few months of its existence, LIV Golf lured five members of the European Ryder Cup team which conjured the unthinkable Miracle of Medinah back in 2012.

Sergio Garcia, Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood, Graeme McDowell and Martin Kaymer were among the first batch of players to jump ship for the breakaway league four years ago.

Ahead of the 2026 season, another European hero has joined the league’s ranks – albeit outside the ropes.

Nicolas Colsaerts, who retired at last month’s Mauritius Open after over 500 starts on the DP World Tour, is about to start a new position in LIV’s broadcast team.

Colsaerts, of course, is best remembered for one of the best individual performances in Ryder Cup history at Medinah. Before the Sunday singles miracle, he made eight birdies and an eagle to defeat Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker virtually on his own in a thrilling Friday fourballs match.

The surprise news of his LIV move, first reported by the Sports Business Journal’s Josh Carpenter, was shared by DP World Tour winner Eddie Pepperell on this week’s Chipping Forecast podcast.

“I heard that Nicolas Colsaerts has gone to LIV as the lead commentator,” Pepperell said. “I think Dom Boulet has left and Nico is becoming commentator.”

Pepperell intriguingly added: “Can I just say, I’ve spoken to Nicolas plenty of times about LIV and he wasn’t it’s biggest fan so that’s a huge turn of events.”

Colsaerts has impressed with his insight in the Sky Sports commentary booth covering DP World Tour events of late and it was expected he would continue in that role in 2026.

But after Henni Zuel’s move to LIV was confirmed last summer, Colsaerts has followed the same path.

The Belgian will also join David Feherty and Arlo White on LIV’s team for the upcoming season, which begins in Riyadh next week.

Last year, Colsaerts expressed his sadness that he had not been retained as one of Luke Donald’s vice-captains for the away victory at Bethpage Black.

“Yeah, very disappointed, because it’s a competition that I live for that has basically been the only thing that will get me out of bed for the last couple of years,” Colsaerts told the Sky Sports Golf podcast.

“Extremely disappointed, yes, but the captain is in charge. There are no hard feelings to have about the decision the captain makes. Also, because the respect of the competition and the respect of who is representing us every two years, I would always back them.

“Of course I would have loved to be there and more than that I would have loved to help. It’s the fact that I’m not able to help that I’m disappointed and sad about.”
