Golf legend Jack Nicklaus is coming to Lancaster next month.
The 18-time major champion will be the keynote speaker for The High Center at Elizabethtown College’s annual High Center Business Forum at the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square on March 18.
The event begins with a reception at 4:30 p.m., followed by a dinner and an “exclusive conversation” with Nicklaus, according to a press release sent by The High Center.
Registration and tickets are required to attend the event, with Nicklaus’ talk titled: “Mastering the Game: Golden Lessons in Golf, Business and Life.”
Tickets cost $293.02, including tax. For more information or for tickets, go to thehighcenter.com. Tickets sales end March 6.
The 86-year-old Nicklaus, nicknamed “The Golden Bear,” won 118 pro events worldwide, including a record 18 majors (six Masters, five PGA Championships, four U.S. Opens and three British Opens). He is one of only six golfers to win all four majors. His 73 victories on the PGA Tour rank third all-time.
Perhaps his most memorable win came nearly 40 years ago in the 1986 Masters, when he became the oldest winner of the tournament at 46 years, two months, 23 days old on April 13.
“We are thrilled to hear from golf legend Jack Nicklaus, whose career transcended his sport and allowed him to become a role model worldwide,” Mike Mitchell, executive director of The High Center, said in the press release. “We look forward to hearing him share powerful insights on leadership, excellence, and success.”
That success has continued after Nicklaus’ playing career, as he has gone on to design nearly 325 golf courses worldwide.
Also, he and his wife, Barbara, launched the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation, which has raised more than $250 million for pediatric care.
Nicklaus is the first athlete and just the fourth person overall to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom (2005), Congressional Gold Medal (2015) and Lincoln Medal (2018).
