Opposing councillor says city has no legal basis to fight against Kanata Golf Club development
The City of Ottawa intends to continue its fight against development plans at the Kanata Golf Club.
CBC News reports council passed a motion this week to instruct city solicitors to look into legal options and to refuse to make modifications to city-held land interests. The motion was passed despite recent court rulings against the city and its hope to appeal its dispute with ClubLink to replace the golf course with 1,500 new houses.
Ottawa’s mayor said there are places in the city where homes can be built as well as places where they shouldn’t be built.
A councillor who opposed the motion said the city has no legal basis to continue its fight against development at the golf course property.
