hey there, I am fed up with not being able to play in the winter (temps aren't the issue, snow is) and I've come to an agreement with my SO that we're getting a garden gym / sim.
Just wanted to check if dimensions are okay or am I missing something.
The room is 6m x 3.5m (20 ft x 11.5ft), ceiling is 3 (10ft) metres tall (I'm 194cm (6'3") tall myself). Alternatively I'd be okay to change it to 7m x 3.5m (23ft x 11.5ft) if that extra metre is going to make a significant difference.
I'd be using a side, camera based sim unit, either OG square to start with or the new one that just dropped with GSPro eventually.
Second photo shows you distances to screen, behind the mat etc. Based from what I read it should be pretty decent, side camera based units don't need much flight towards the screen, so 210cm (7ft) should be enough I think.
The room is going to be gym as well and I don't want to move the gym stuff around too much, same with golf crap, once set I'd like it to stay that way.
I don't plan any sitting area, I don't sit down when I practice, besides I can sit on the floor if needed, I don't care about lefties, etc – doubt I'll invite anyone over to play.
edit. added freedom units.

I would add a little bit of width if possible.
Can I ask what software you used to create this diagram?
I’ve just done same with exact dimensions you have. I’m 6ft tall and swinging driver is fine but I’m offset from center of screen.
You’ll be able to fit a decent mount of gym stuff into the room without moving things around.
If you can increase width to 4m that’s probably what I’d do, guaranteed to not have any issues with taller people swinging driver. But if 3.5 is the limit, it definitely works.
I built mine this year to be a sim and gym as well in the backyard. It’s 14′ wide and 20′ long, and it would be tough for me to use it as both a sim and gym space if it wasn’t that big. I would recommend adding some width if you can. Right now, I hit about 1-2 ft off center so I have enough space to swing freely, so with this setup you’ll be pretty close to the wall in front of you when swinging
If you plan on centering your hitting strip and allowing for both left and right handed players, I would widen your build to at least 15’.
My building is 15×30, and I too agreed with my wife to include a gym in the area, but I quickly realized that there wasn’t enough room for a treadmill and smith machine. The room felt uncomfortable and tight, thus making it hard to swing inside. I’m only 5’9”, so you being 6’3” might cause more issues for you. After trying it out for a bit, I ultimately decided to part ways with the workout machines, throw in a couple couches, and use it as a full-on sim room. Best decision ever.
Good luck!
What’s the dimensions of your mat?
Edit: Sorry looks like 5ft wide given your room dimensions which tie in with the clearance to wall etc. 👍
more width or offset – gonna smash that wall on the backswing of a proper driver swing
