🔥 Is This the End of TaylorMade’s Reign? | Wilson XB Hollow Body Irons Review 🔥
Wilson is back—and they’re not playing it safe. In this video, we take a deep dive into the brand new Wilson XB hollow-bodied irons, a serious challenger in a category long dominated by TaylorMade’s P790 and P770.
Hollow-body distance irons have been TaylorMade territory for years, but the XB brings modern shaping, explosive ball speed, and a surprisingly clean player’s look that could shake up the market. Is Wilson finally delivering a true P790 competitor? And more importantly… are we witnessing the beginning of a shift in the hollow-body iron era?
⛳ In this video we cover:
• First impressions & design
• Feel, sound, and forgiveness
• Performance vs P790 & P770
• Who the Wilson XB is really for
• Whether TaylorMade should be worried
Wilson has been quietly building momentum, and the XB might be their boldest statement yet. Let me know in the comments👇
👉 Is Wilson back at the top table?
👉 Or is TaylorMade still untouchable?

Tom is doing great!
I currently play p770 irons for a high handicapper and these look like a great swap for me to give more forgiveness
Would love to see Dave hit these with a light graphite shaft, along with the Wilson Duo ball.
Do you have any the US deals on equipment?
Thanks Chris, top video. They do make some great clubs
Wonder if you can blend them with the other new Wilson irons like the CB? I think you should use the 4 XB for the pro am, then 5-7 cb, then pw-8 mb.
I currently play the Dynapwr Forged model. Superb clubs. Can’t wait to demo these XB’s.
I am actually going to try to find a place to demo them.
Back in the 70's it seemed like Wilson Staffs were a primo brand of club – way over my game. I love my Gen6 XP's. It would be great to see a comparison of these vs. Gen8 XPs vs P790s. Hope Dave heals up quick and we can see how he gets on with these!
I just got the Callaway AI 150 irons a couple weeks ago. Dave did not hit them so well in your older video. How did you hit them? I can swing a lot faster than Dave. I grew up playing with my Grandfather’s blades.
Love the channel and the focus on mid handicap Dave who is made for YouTube! Used Wilson for many years before going to Callaway Apex 21's which I really enjoy. Would try the new Wilson model. BTW may want to change the thumbnail picture to say P790 rather than P 970… Keep up the good work!
Pre-ordered my XB’s this morning. Will have my previous DP Forged as my backup. Wilson gets a raw deal in The States, but they kind of do it to themselves.
Is this the follow up model to the Dynapwr forged? Would be good to see how Dave is hitting them.
Hello Chris. I have noticed a lack of collaboration with James Robinson. Will you be doing any new projects with him? Miss the dynamic interaction you two have.
I was a Wilson staff player in the sixties and loved them. However, when ping brought out the Karsten 1's, I bought a set of irons. They made golf so much easier and mishits didn't hurt my game so much. Now, in my mid seventies, I need as much help as I can get, to reach the par fives and even some of the par fours. But, it's great to see Wilson being taken seriously again.
Wilson cavity back 2 iron back in 1982 was awesome, but I was a little younger.
A very useful club in the day was the famous leather wedge which if used skilfully would get you out in play before your partners knew it!
Hi chris i played the wilson D300 20.22 to 20.23/24 i then eent to the tokomo 101s but after 4 months but because I wasn't really getting on with them i went for a fitting and i now play the mizuno hot metal 925s with a grafite shaft which im loving at the mo they also fitted me into callaway supersoft ball.
Love your content, would love to see some colab playing rounds. Have you seen Ron Chopper is hoping to play in the UK July time, would love to see you pair play around together.
Always played Wilson, they look stunning, going to have to try um 😍
Hey Chris did you and James have a falling out Just wanted to know haven't seen you guys together lately
Or go look at getting a real set of irons with #Avoda
Would love to see dave on the bag for the pro am and definitely some footage
Got some dynopower as I was struggling with my ping i525 and found it so much more enjoyable
Chris, these irons are not on the "discount" side with their pricing in the big boy range. Hardly affordable.
You should swing the least expensive clubs you have in the pro-am, just to show that they are playable.
As always a great video.
Good to hear you're coming to Cornwall Chris. We are often overlooked down here, but there are some fantastic links courses to play, as well as a few 'hidden gem' parkland ones. 😊
Currently playing the D9 Irons, love them would put them up against anything from the big brands. These looks great.
Wilson was the first set I played in high-school 30 years ago. Then got fat-shafts that I played for 10 years. Tried the dynapower when I got fit last year but just didn't like the feel.
Switched to Dynapower irons last year and really like them. These do look better.
