The Pokes last competed at the end of October at the Ka’anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational in Hawaii. It was one of their best performances of the fall, placing in a tie for 13th as a team (-13), and it featured Kristof Panke shooting the school record for lowest single round at 62 (-9).

In addition to that strong showing, the Cowboys placed in the top half of the field at two other tournaments. They tied for seventh in a 19-team field at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invite and shared seventh in a 15-team field at the Oregon State Beaver Invite.

Panke has led Wyoming twice this season. Brody Leid has also been the low man on the team twice, while Conner Scheich has earned that honor once.

It’s a 13-team field in Tucson this week. In addition to Wyoming, Arizona, UTEP, BYU, St. Mary’s, Texas, Cal, New Mexico State, Howard, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Santa Clara and Iowa State are set to tee it up.

The Cowboys have played in this tournament each of the last five years. They enjoyed their best finish during that stretch last season when they took eighth.

Following the Arizona N.I.T., the Cowboys take a few weeks off before hosting their first of two tournaments. The Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate stretches from Feb. 23-25 in Palm Desert, California, at the Classic Club.
