The TaylorMade Qi4D Drivers: the truth behind the new driver that others are not allowed to tell you.
In this video, we dive deep into the TaylorMade Qi4D Driver review to see if this is truly the best driver of 2026. After many pros skipped the Qi35, we analyse why Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler moved straight into the Qi4D LS. We test the Qi4D Core, Qi4D Max, and the Low Spin (LS) models to see if the new “tingy” sound and aerodynamic shaping actually deliver more ball speed.
What you will learn in this video:
Qi4D vs Qi35: Is the new model a 12-month apology or a tech leap?
Sound & Feel: Why TaylorMade moved away from the “thud” back to a metallic “ting.”
Launch Monitor Data: Real numbers on spin rates, carry distance, and forgiveness.
Which Head is for You? A breakdown of the Max (10K forgiveness), Core (Standard), and LS (Low Spin) models.
Aerodynamics: How the refined shaping compares to the “boxy” look of previous years.

….you do need a fair few chickens 🐔 to get 1,300 nuggets …(even if your mum goes to Iceland) 😂
Have you ever played or tested a TaylorMade driver, if so which one? I have the original burner YEARS AGSO
I do find it interesting how once the new club comes out Taylor Made will allow a full slagging off of the 2025 model, but until last week no one seemingly was allowed to say it. You could argue QI35 owners should be offered a partial refund 😅
Scottie switched back to the qi10 and almost set the all time pga tour scoring record relative to par yesterday (if not for a rare miss into water with an iron off a tee). These have essentially been the same club since Stealth with the carbon face
The Core and the LS this year are both 460CC this year. The LS was smaller in the QI35 LS model. The new LS just looks smaller on the new one vs the core because of the design of the LS. I was all about the Callaway triple diamond Max but now I want to hit new Cobra LS.
I did a driver fitting about 3 weeks ago. Tried several models, then the store pulled out the Qi4D Max. They had just gotten it the previous afternoon. I was the first to hit it. It gave me the best distance AND the tightest dispersion. Needless to say, that was what we ordered. I never hit the Qi35, but I'm really excited to game the Qi4D Max for the next few years.
It does feel like for all of the millions and millions that Taylormade puts into marketing, advertising and product research, Scottie and Rory didn't put Qi35 (also apparently now Qi4D for Scottie) because they just didn't like the aesthetics of the driver. It is amazing that they missed that for now 2 straight years with their best players or these guys need to speak up earlier in the process. I think the golf industry massively makes a mistake thinking people will trade off looks and sounds for performance.
Maybe Titleist and Ping are on to something with keeping their drivers looking very similar generation after generation.
The yearly release schedule is fatiguing. I’m more inclined to buy in the 2 year release cycle vs every year. I enjoy gear, but the relentless marketing and sh##ing on the previous products is laughable (why should I buy your garbage now?). The forums around golf gear are ridiculously biased as well.
Ideally, people improve as they play more. (IDEALLY) I feel like a lot of hype around yearly driver releases, has more to do with the golfer improving over the year, vs their previous fitting, than the tech taking an ASTRONOMICAL leap in one year. That last 30s of this video was VERY illuminating.
Has Scheffler still got the post he made on Insta like Rory about the new one going straight in the bag!! Right out of TM's play book I guess, mmm, how long did that last? 😀 anyone see a Qi10 this weekend? 😀
A couple of days ago I watched a video where the last three generations of TM's drivers were tested against each other. Results, all were within 1 yard carry (280-281) and 1 yard total. Dispersion also virtually the same. Personally I hit a Bridgestone JGR from 2016 the best, and yes I have newer brands too. So keeping my wallet in my pocket.
more importantly, will the faces fall off or the crowns crack on this one?
Mark I think the the big companies have hit a brick wall as far as they can improve drivers, that's why I paid £260 for a used Elyte driver, had a shaft fitting and paid £85 for a shaft. Total £345, a saving of over £200 on buying a new (not much better) driver.
Scottie isn’t using the 4 D. He’s using the qi10.
All drivers are the very same in performance absolutely no difference the last 10 years. I have the 35 core I hit it 3 yards longer than the 4D
Did a fitting last week….QI4D Core vs. Titleist GT2….the GT2 won for me.
the core model looks like the lessons they learned by making the R7 Mini redux seeing great numbers off that type of weight setup.
If i could get a brand new m5 id buy it was best for me by a mile only got rid of it cos i listened to to media! 😢
Still gaming sim2 max. I dont think ill ever replace it. I have qi10 woods and they are amazing as well
I love a Salty Mark Review….a return to form. Love it.
