As we get older, body rotation alone isn’t always easy to generate. But there’s one non-negotiable move that anyone can learn to unlock effortless power: the forearm rollover release. In this lesson, Craig Jones shows you how this move not only squares the clubface but also adds real speed through impact—without requiring the kind of hip turn younger players rely on.
You’ll see how the common “chicken wing” robs you of both distance and consistency, and how simply pointing the elbow down and rolling the forearms creates a faster, longer-traveling clubhead. Craig demonstrates a glove-under-the-arm drill, explains why a strong grip is critical, and walks you through a step-by-step routine to feel effortless power right away.

Makes the ball go left
coaching a must… helped me tremendously
I think older guys pull their arms in slightly when they swing so they have two chicken wings that hug the torso. The glove isn’t going to drop.
Wonderful video for guys like me who have lost some flexibility and power. With proper rotation and release of the club head, we can recapture much of what we thought was gone forever.
You are not old enough to model this topic. Get a guy who is 70+.
This dude is ripped.
effortless power is nonsense
Don’t do this cause terrible hook
Are you going to hit a ball?
Finally!
I recall Phil Ritson promoting the hinge of the lead elbow on the follow through, but your explanation of how the difference between the chicken wing position and the left elbow down or folded position is really a breakthrough in my understanding of the swing. I'm going to fully incorporate this into my game from now on – so thank you very, very much.
Too much time talking for one simple swing
Please work on keeping our head steady because in trying to release the club head faster the head movement will kill everything check it out for yourself and please be open to speaking positive about your life never mind your age if you think you can you will if you think you can't you can't love and light to all namestie ♥️🙏❤️
Good morning iam Mari from the Philippines iam watching your yutub channel
I remember Morgan Pressel on the Golf Channel many years ago with her coach who taught this to her by encouraging her to "catch rain with her left hand on the down swing." I tried it and love it but, be careful, if you have fast hands like me, you can really hook the ball. But, when it works, I can really knock it out there.
55? Wait until you're 78… You'll wonder what the hell happened!!
Damn get to the point and show it. I fell asleep
Great explanation of club travel from elbow up to elbow down. I needed this! Thanks and… PRESS ON!
Add the right arm muscular thrust with that and you have the total package.
WOW I've been fighting my push fade for ever, today ball went straight or a slight draw. Love golf again!!
My biggest problem with this is I seem to snap if off the planet. I 100% agree with you though 🙂 Thanks for your videos…..soon to be 55 year older here as well.
The chicken wing and other issues are caused by NOT transferring weight to the front foot during the initial segment (the club shaft returning to horizontal) of the downswing. Then you will be able to whip the club with the arms turning over.
Does this work for irons S well
Nice video. Thanks. Probably easier for you to still hit it well as you look pretty strong.
Best video of all time
Another great leeson.
I'm 79
what adjustments do you make for irons?
Steve Pratt video is in my opinion similar to this forearm action. Kudos to both.
Great way to FURTHER the discussion about hitting it FARTHER.
This has ALWAYS BEEN MY PRoblem! I’m a senior and I so appreciate your videos.
how do we know how well you hit it if you offer any proof ? also keeping your elbow tucked on the backswing is a distance robber isn't it?.take a look at rory for example.
I really enjoy your videos
