The 2026 PGA TOUR season gets underway at the Sony Open in Hawaii, as a 120-player field tees it up at the historic Waialae Country Club. Russell Henley, J.J. Spaun, Hideki Matsuyama, Robert MacIntyre, Ben Griffin, Jordan Spieth, Collin Morikawa and Keegan Bradley headline a deep mix of established stars, Ryder Cup standouts and hungry newcomers eager to make an early statement. The opening week also marks the first opportunity for players to earn points toward the Aon Swing 5, adding extra significance as competitors look to fast-track their way into a Signature Event. Waialae once again provides the perfect backdrop, blending classic course architecture with stunning Hawaiian scenery. Defending champion Nick Taylor returns looking to make history as the first back-to-back winner at the event since Jimmy Walker in 2014-15, while Matsuyama, the 2022 champion, will be aiming to continue an impressive run without a missed cut here since 2013.

There are locations that sell out events, those that dont, but both a US Tour worthy. An event in Boston compared to an island in Hawaii is same but different. The signature events should be classified as guaranteed to sell out. Then have development events to grow the tour in developing areas or culturally important areas.
