1. Grip and explain: it’s better to use the continental to hit the overhead shot.
With continental grip, you won’t need to change the volley grip that is also using a continental grip, and the continental grip can also help you to make the ball spin to secure your shot.
2.The split step and unit turn: when your opponent hits the lob shot, you will make a split step and make a unit turn.
3. Moving and set up the good hitting zone: turn your body sideways and use the small steps for short overhead and the crossover step for deep overhead to set up the good hitting zone. The good hitting zone is slightly in front of your body, around 1 o’clock.
4. Contact point and finish: When you have a good hitting zone, take the racquet up over your head, use the non-dominant hand to track the ball. Drop the racquet quickly to hit the ball. the contact point is slightly in front of you and your hitting arm is straight. The follow-through is across your body around the hip level, forward momentum.
