  1. Couldn't hit my new hybrids consistently at all, worked my dead arms yesterday and voila.

  2. The more careful you are, the more the brain will cease the body to allow you to manipulate the club; this will be in vain as the body is now smack dab IN YOUR WAY!! The route has to be the one of the SEASONED LUMBERJACK; where the body reacts to the WEIGHT OF THE ARMS AND CLUB and pivots out of the way; that happens through the legs!

  3. I loved the "Walk like an Egyptian " analogy to make the point that our kinetic body is meant to move naturally, not stiff, mechanical & meeting certain body positions instructions. Perhaps you should have worn the King Tut costume from Steve Martin's infamous video to further entertain us mere mortals…

  4. something big I don't get. In your shot at 5:38, your entire body position says "hit behind the ball" yet you stripe it. Your sternum, rotation around your spine, everything, is lined up behind the ball. And whenever I try to swing the way you train, I cram the club into the ground way behind the ball. I've watched many of the vids, and I just don't understand how to hit the ball cleanly that way.

  5. Every time I use my legs, I hit the ball fat. Do that a few times and you’re not gonna continue.

  6. GREAT TIPS AND VIDEO SHAWN…….EVEYONE GOLF SHOULD BE A SUBSCRIBER TO YOUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL

  7. Listen to this man folks! This isn’t his opinion, this is facts and science, neuroscience, and kinetics. Shawn knows his stuff!

  8. Hi. I’ve been seeing some videos on keeping the arms, especially the trail arm to the side or close to the side for better ball striking. When I let my arms leave my sides I seem to just sway😭😭

  9. Terrific video Shawn! I request more front facing swings and slow motion swings please…they are so helpful to further understand your explanation. I see why you insist on focusing the target and that seems to cause a full turn facing the target.

Looks like hip and feet are open but shoulder is closed. Is that correct? Thanks!

  10. Great video, everybody at my club lower than my 5 hcp learnt golf as weak kids,ie the club felt like a sledge hammer! But ive tried to achieve this in so many wrong ways, stuff under armpits, over rotation etc

  11. Wonderful analogy with standing on the swing and pumping the legs!! Unfortunately many of today's kids and young people have NEVER done that!! Found out that I couldn't do it very well now with70 year old knees without braces, but THEY WORKED and boy is this FUN!!! Thanks for some new life to my swing!!

  12. Hit my driver 280 yards on stroke 1 hole yesterday, split the fairway, using Shawn's swing, then hit a wedge 30 yards over the green – LOL. I'm trying to understand why his swing generates so much effortless power. I have a feeling the secret lies in WiG and Gravity Golf's approach which share a lot of secrets in common. Don't play golf sideways on, rotational power generates way more momentum. The hardest thing is to turn away from the ball and face behind you with your back facing the target.

  13. Dear Shawn, I have watched numerous golf lessons from you and I consider you to be the best instructor I have ever seen. Your dedication to transferring your skills to us is truly commendable. I believe the best way to show our appreciation for your efforts is to analyze, think, and practice what we are taught. Without our initiative, even the best teacher in the world cannot make us great players.Thank you for your hard work and for sharing your knowledge with us. I am committed to practicing and integrating your teachings into my own style. Sincerely, Andy Koh

  14. Hey Shawn…great video…have watched 5x and still laugh out loud when you "walk like an Egyptian".
Your explanations and demonstrations make too much sense! TY!

  15. It's tempting to try and control the club like a precision instrument. Swinging with large arcs and controlling the arcs is counter-intuitive at 1st, but makes so much more sense. Let your self swing on an arc, then align the ball, arc and target. Im learning the clement laws of golf haha.

    1. stay on task
    2. have an intermediate target
    3. swing back and through, let go, release into your picture

there's a lot of wisdom in these succinct phrases. taking the time to unpack them. love the content man!

  16. Shawn, I have watched your videos for a while now…tried what you where saying. I just couldn't connect UNTIL NOW THAT I SAW THIS VIDEO!!! Went out and tried this 1st time with 9 hole ladies league. Normal round 40 – 42….BUT HOLY SMOKE!!! Drives normally 200 yds. Par 4's are around 250 and I drove the greens!!! Just relaxing the arms and letting the legs start the swing….UNBELIEVABLE!!! PLUS I HAD A 37!!! NOT BAD FOR A 70 year old woman!!! Normal 8 iron is 120 yards and went 140!!! Dead straight without trying!!!! Your lessons are so simple to follow. THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU DO!!! 😊

  17. A lot of instructors say to bring your rear arm elbow into your side on the downswing. When I tried this I hit the ball weakly to the right or hit a toe shank. A drill I use is to put down two balls side by side maybe 1 and half inches apart. I set up to the inner ball and then try to hit the outer ball. This drill has helped me get more freedom in my swing and much better ball striking rather then the cramped up position with the elbow into side. What do you think?

  18. Thanks for the refresher Sean! I quit watching golf video's for a while now, there's just so much content, and rabbit hole after rabbit hole. I started to get off track and this was exactly what I needed to get back on track. Glad you're doing well and still hard at teaching the effortless golf swing. Thanks!

  19. I believe that Shawn’s instruction is unparalleled. I love the natural athletic feel of the swing, and when you embrace Shawn’s teachings, you become very consistent, bc you are not trying to control things. I don’t entertain any other instruction that talks about being in certain positions, these concepts have never helped me, or anyone else I know for that matter….and I have invested tons of time trying. Shawn’s instruction is the only instruction that has truly helped me. It takes time and commitment, but I’m down to a 3.5HC (with poor putting) from probably around a 7.5 before I started. Swing the swing based on Shawn’s instruction and don’t worry if you miss hit the ball, just ask yourself… “did I put the swing on it”? That’s all that matters, bc if I did and I hit it thin or whatever, I just know that I need to improve upon getting the ball in the way. Shawn talks about Goldilocks (in other videos) to determine ball distance from body…this takes time to get comfortable with, as many of us are accustomed to swinging out “at” the ball. We need to train ourselves to let it naturally fall where it wants and just position yourself so the ball is simply in the way.
I’m very thankful for Shawn, as he is a key reason for my increased enjoyment of the game.
    This is the way!!

  20. I’ve tried your stuff before but I had low point issues. Trying it again now because I love the concept, but here’s what I don’t get. You bounce around with the demonstrations, but then your actual swing it’s hard to see much of that. For me, I actually do bounce around with my swing, so I’m clearly over exaggerating your feels, but I need help understanding how to tone it down. I wind up hitting everything fat or thin because there’s so much up and down.

  21. I noticed your cap and head moving an inch or two higher on the backswing than at address, then down again in the downswing, then up again, and wondered. This video explains it perfectly. Like you say, golf is a lifelong learning experience, and with your great videos I am relearning the golf swing at age 83 after playing for over 62 years. Heartfelt thanks. P.S. I see quite a lot of agreement with the teaching of Dr Kwon, Director of the Biomechanics Department at Texas Womens University just outside of Dallas, Texas. He has the trigger move forward, then it’s push up with the trail leg on the backswing followed by push up with the lead leg in the downswing. It’s very encouraging to see this considerable agreement between great experts based on a solid understanding of the biomechanics of the anatomy. It would be really cool to see the two of you together in a seminar.

  22. Meant to add that your natural leg movement is so much more logical and easier to perform than some of the current teaching advocating rather violent pushing up against the ground with the lead leg on the downswing, like you see Justin Thomas do in videos, nearly leaping off the ground. It’s hard to try and keep the head and spine angle steady on the backswing, bracing the trail leg to avoid swaying, then suddenly making that explosive push up with the lead leg. Your swinging moves both ways, with the out of the way thought, is far easier and better for most of us. Thank you!!

  23. The sooner you embrace this, the sooner you will begin to enjoy bliss on a stick! Literally! Get that feeling of dead arms and have them just go along for the ride. Make sure you stick to your target though!!!

  24. in throwing the club out toward the target, it feels like my elbows are even and throwing to target, a good feeling that everything is working together; great feeling for the 50yard shots!!! throwing the club toward the target is a confident thought.

  25. Shawn…..Could you clarify something for me? Are you saying all swings (chips, pitches, irons, woods, et al) are to be done with the arms acting like a rag doll? No activation at all? Just swinging like ropes and letting the body and legs be the speed factor? Is that it…?

  26. The dead arm feel is to swing up to the top with dead arms.
There can be no intention to energise the arms in the downswing.
What are the positions in the downswing ???
Well there arnt any : certainly none for us to care about.
At the top of the golfswing ,; we dead arm swingers totaly quit on the downswing.
We take the opportunity to relax the arms hands , traps and delts.
The only feel is the initial pressure on the sole of the right foot, coupled, with the free swinging left hip.
Its all about feel and allowing the club to swing the pendulum.
Start by getting in the left toe , on the backswing, ie Nicholaus and totaly give up on the swing at transition : most important : totaly relax the traps, in order to surrender to gravity !!!!
Golf : what any easy little game 😅😅
