Does this even need to be said? Isn’t this obvious?

A singular headphone occasionally is a good time. Sunday, there was a frost delay so I think a lot of the dudes bailed out on their tee times. I walked the morning and had no in front or behind me. The course was dead. Absolute silence and it was extremely peaceful. One of the most peaceful rounds I’ve had in a while.
Duanedoberman
Never heard this being tried in the UK or in Europe and I am pretty sure if anyone did, they would be ordered off the course very quickly and banned.

I used to be a music guy but now I’m a turn that shit off guy.
If you want music then play it. But I should not be able to hear it if I’m 10+ feet away from your cart. Keep it to yourself.
FoxfireP
Eh, depends on how loud it is. My buddies and I pretty much all play music in our carts but at a volume that’s not really audible beyond like 5ft from the cart. If we happen to be waiting at a box, then we’ll turn it down/mute completely if the group ahead is teeing off. I’d be a hypocrite to say music shouldn’t be played, but people should definitely be mindful of the noise level. If I can hear you at the other end of the hole, then yeah that’s a problem.
Angelicalsweetie01
Golf already has a soundtrack. Birds, wind, and bad decisions off the tee.

Nobody wants to year your damn music ANYWHERE
IndicationIll324
Music played at acceptable levels a is A-OK in my books, turn it down/off when approaching other groups

I tried playing with tunes going once with headphones on. I found it far too distracting for me but would find it endlessly irritating to hear someone else’s tunes from a speaker whilst I’m playing. Depending on the facility that would be a call to the clubhouse. I’ve also never seen this in the UK, maybe more of an American thing? By the conduct at the RC I would assume the US has little regard for proper golf etiquette.
michael_in_chains_
Been a problem since Covid era. 10 out 10 times they suck ass at golf too. This coming from someone who’s a weekend warrior golfer.
Silicon_Knight
I golf for the peace and tranquility of the course, the unbridled rage of shaking A GOD DAM FUCKING EASY CHIP 3 FUCKING TIMES IN A FUCKING ROW. The nature, the beauty (I live in Canada so lots of our courses are in the woods) and hotdogs at the turn, and a beer with the buds at the end.
Not your fucking music. Stop playing Nickelback, here’s a fucking photograph? How about a fucking Rock-Flite to the temple ya hoser!
The nickel back is a joke, the rest isn’t lol
BidetBlaster
I’m definitely in the minority, but I like hearing music from another hole

Only thing worse is when I go hiking and some dipshit somehow thinks “you know what this peaceful wooded trail needs is shitty music”
Professional_Hall233
Man, people really struggle with living and let live.
I like to listen to music, it helps my focus and rhythm. You don’t like music, which is fine, but you’d have to be within 10ft of my cart to hear it.
Have your day, I’ll have mine.
CaddyWompus6969
I have 2 takes here …first, you can play music loud enough to enjoy but not loud enough that some dude is going to rage out on reddit about it
Second, the golf course isn’t a library, its literally an outdoor park with the sole purpose of playing a game. So some amount of enjoyment should be expected from patrons.

I do. I want to hear it. Have some fun. Do some twerking to the tee box and give it a rip. Do a beer bong and onto the next shot.

You were right till shrink the game
Now you sound like a dick too

There is a whole middle ground between “Music blaring from speakers” and “put earphones in”….
I don’t know too many people who crank a speaker when they’re playing all by themselves. Most of those guys do wear earbuds. Music is usually from groups of buddies playing together and having beers and a good time. You hope that those guys will turn it down when they’re near other groups.
In my group we play music if we’re out having fun on a Friday after work, or at a charity tournament or something. One speaker so we’re not battling rock and country out of two separate carts. And obviously when we are near other groups we turn it down. But, if its a more serious round like my saturday morning money game, no music and you focus on the game a bit more.
Realistically, if you’re hearing music on another hole its a vague, tinny, distant sound… and if you cant tune that out, you’re just looking for reasons to be annoyed.
Yes, I agree that people who crank music and don’t turn it down if another group is nearby are inconsiderate. But at the same time… we’re all just out playing golf on a friday afternoon just let people have fun. If their music happens to slightly vibrate the hairs in your ears for a few seconds… who cares? Are you gonna be alright?
Its the same with the people who get high and mighty about drinking on the course. Okay, if you don’t want to drink, don’t drink. But if you let it bother you that someone else on another hole is having some drinks and having a good time – bend down and touch some grass.
Like with most issues there are two extremes, and likely 90% of examples will fall somewhere in between.
The drunk idiots cranking a massive speaker strapped to their cart roof, powered by 18V batteries (real thing I saw this year)…. not okay.
The guys having a few beers and some fun, playing some country music on a Bushnell speaker who turn it down when they approach another group? No problem.
Fun_Emu_9277
Maybe your pace is a bit slow if the group behind you playing music is catching up.

So brave of you to post this on a subreddit where it gets posted every day.

It’s either shitty 80s hair metal or post 9/11 shitty country music at full blast. Drives me nuts
livinalieontimna
No way this is tolerated on my course. Anywhere in the country come to think of it. If the pro didn’t get you some old dude would DDT you into a bunker.
standingboot9
I’m a music fanatic. When I’m walking my dog or on the gym, I have earbuds in.
But on the course, I don’t want any part of it. Cool if you do, but there’s something serene about golf, golf design, and being outside that I enjoy without any extra noise.
IllustriousMaybe3931
If you didn’t shank your tee shot straight right on to my fairway, and just stayed on your hole, you wouldn’t be able to hear my music.
Deep_Seaworthiness_9
Agreed. So annoying.

I do bring a JBL bluetooth speaker when I have the opportunity to play a round. However, I make sure that the volume is only loud enough to hear it when I’m in the cart. I never have it loud enough to hear from the cart path.
I_Creamed_My_Shorts
Love music when I’m in the cart. I don’t need a soundtrack to my awful game off the tee or anywhere else tho.
LivHasAThiccAss
You guys obviously never listened to Steely Dans 1972 classic “Can’t Buy a Thrill” on the course and it shows
