The St Andrews Links Trust has officially introduced an eighth golf course to its legendary portfolio. Formerly named The Duke’s (after the disgraced former Prince Andrew) and managed by the Old Course Hotel, the newly rebranded Craigtoun Course, located on the outskirts of the historic town, will now be operated by the Links Trust.
Providing an additional layout for local residents and Links Tickholders to play in 2026 and beyond, around 26,000 rounds are expected to be played on the course over the next 12 months, but the benefits are clear too for visitors to the area.
Newly launched visitor rates for Fife and Scottish resident golfers will be available for £45 (Fife) and £55 (Scotland) in the shoulder season and £70 (Fife) and £80 (Scotland) in the peak months of the high season, which is exceptional value to play this acclaimed heathland design that overlooks the famous town from an elevated position.
Originally created by five-time Open champion Peter Thomson, the Craigtoun (taking its new moniker from the nearby Craigtoun Country Park) is a fine companion to the classic links courses that this magical corner of North East Fife is renowned for.
While the green fee savings are most apparent for those golfers based in Fife and Scotland, everyone can take advantage of the summer green fee being reduced from £220 to £155, which is a saving of 30%, and aligns it with both the New Course and Jubilee Course in St Andrews.

Neil Coulson, outgoing chief executive officer of St Andrews Links Trust, said: “Today marks an important day for St Andrews Links Trust as we take over a long-term lease of the Craigtoun Course and mark a significant step in our long-term strategy.
“Adding The Craigtoun Course to our already enviable catalogue of courses will allow us to offer Scottish golfers more opportunity to play at discounted rates, while increasing capacity for all ticket holders, members and visitors.
“We are looking forward to getting to work in the coming months to build on the Craigtoun Course’s reputation and moving forward with work to strategically invest in our facilities, creating more opportunities to play golf.”
With additional investment expected in the facilities here, both the course and the wider setup will be further enhanced in the coming months and years, making this even more of a must-visit destination.
Highly Recommended on Golfshake, the Craigtoun Course is a venue that all golfers should experience, and thanks to these reduced green fee categories, that opportunity has now become even more attractive.
