Nicklaus might be the 2nd worst architect to do a muni type course behind Fazio. Trump’s taste in golf architecture is so superficial so I wouldn’t expect him to steer Nicklaus in the right direction.
Of all the big name architects Tom Doak is the only one that has had success building/renovating munis (including the only muni other than Torrey on the PGA tour). Funnily enough I think he scorned Trump early in his career and judging from his post history he still is not a big fan of the Donald.
