Avalanche Casualty

Jackson Hole News and Guide reports 31-year-old Nathaniel Schneider was buried while skiing in the Claw back country area on Dec. 20 and later died at an Idaho hospital. Teton County Sheriff Matt Carr told the News and Guide the rescue effort by Schneider’s ski partner and first responders was heroic, but the avalanche danger that day was considered high.

Golf Course Vandalism

Gillette Police are asking for the public’s help after damage was reported at Bell Nob Golf Course. Investigators say recent incidents involving e-bike use caused damage to several holes and greens in mid and late December. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Gillette Police Department.

Social Security Increase

Wyomingites who receive social security benefits can expect a pay bump starting Jan 1. Thursday, benefits are increasing 2.8%, that’s the newest cost-of-living adjustment. According to the Social Security Administration, as of last report, more than 125,000 people in Wyoming receive social security benefits.

Alcohol Sales and Licensing

The City of Lander is holding a special city council meeting Tuesday at 6 p.m. Council members will hold a work session to discuss proposed changes to the city’s alcohol sales and licensing ordinance. The meeting will take place at City Council Chambers and will also be available to watch online via Zoom.
