Jail records show Richard Lamartine Greene Honore, 35, faces one count each of child neglect, resisting arrest and property damage. Candace Cheynna Yambo, 36, is facing charges of child neglect and resisting arrest.

Deputies with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Mangrove Marina on Florida Avenue at about 8:40 p.m. after reports of a fight with children present.

Witnesses said Honore and Yambo arrived in a motorized golf cart-like vehicle with three young children and appeared heavily intoxicated, according to MCSO.

Deputies said a confrontation occurred as bystanders tried to prevent the adults from driving. The children were approximately several months old, 1 year old and 2 years old.

They said a witness told them at least one child wandered into the street while the pair attempted to get service, and Yambo nearly dropped the infant.

Authorities notified the Florida Department of Children and Families, and both suspects were taken to jail. Their bond information wasn’t immediately available.
