The successful programme has seen 38 juniors go on to represent Norfolk County, 11 compete in England Golf Championships, and three become PGA professionals.

Royal Norwich was also recently named as one of the top 20 best new course developments of 2016 to 2025 by Golf Inc. Magazine, ranking 15th.

Jamie Wood, director of golf at Royal Norwich, said the junior programme continues to go from “strength to strength”.

“Over recent years we have had many of our juniors go on to represent the county and compete in national events, and whilst this is undoubtedly a key objective of the programme, what is equally encouraging is the number of youngsters who are having the opportunity to engage with golf for the first time here at Royal Norwich,” he said.

“We will continue to evolve and expand the academy to allow even more children from the local area to experience golf and the physical, mental, and social benefits that it can offer.”

Royal Norwich offers juniors 40 hours of instruction and 12 months’ access to its six-hole golf course for £250.

Suzie Kwa-Jarvis, Royal Norwich’s managing director, said the success of the programme is down to the efforts of the club’s instructors, volunteers, parents and the children themselves.

“I would like to personally thank each and every one of you for your essential contributions,” she said.

“We are fortunate that the facilities at Royal Norwich lend themselves well to junior development, and we are blessed with good practice facilities, a full-length six-hole course, and a championship course with multiple teeing grounds allowing golfers of all ages and abilities the opportunity to play.

“Underpinning this, we also have a board who wholeheartedly support junior development and fully understand the wonderful benefits and life skills that the game of golf can bring to our youth.

“We look forward to continuing to offer these opportunities for years to come.”
