Been going back and forth where and how to set up my simulator. I think I am set on hitting at the back wall. There is a giant 4×16 wood girder beam that is 8'4" off the floor and runes the span on the garage. 16'. It is 3ft away from the back wall.
Would it be safe to pad it up and fit a 8×10 or maybe even 8×12 enclosure under it.
Or go in front of it then can go 9' high but I lose 5ft out of my 19' garage. So it gets kinda tight but I can hide my cabinets and other stuff behind. I would like to be able to find it up a little so I can use my garage for other projects or during parties .
I am DIY as much as I can but I was it to be nice. I have a lot of friends that come over and I want to help teach a few and play GSPro. Have extra gaming PC. I want to be able to putt and chip also. Was thinking the Eneekor eye mini. Unless anyone has any better recommendations.
What's best to spend my money that makes a for a better experience other than LM. Are Carles screens the best? Does gray do anything really?
4:3 or 16:9. Thinking 16:9 cuz why not? Right. 8'x up to 14'
In front for behind the header? Anyone have the same problem or tips on how to best pad it or make it safe. F
Do curtains work fine for side? It should I just box it all in with frame and put nets for safety.
Thanks for any replies and everyone's posts here

Have you considered just hitting into a net and using a wall mounted tv off to the side that displays everything? It’s not as immersive but it’ll be quieter lower cost and easier to store if needed. You can also custom fit the net to your exact area specifications, I personally would drop a 10’x10’ net from that 4×16 joist and setup my hitting area 7 foot away from the net “if you go with an optical launch monitor” and run a black drop cloth a foot or two behind the net. I love my net setup personally and just wanted to run it by you as a viable option.

Yea I actually have thought about it. I was probably going to do that first before diving into a screen and projector. Will probably wait for a hand me down. Just wanna hit some balls work on swing and play with some buddies to see if it is worth all my time money and effort to make it perfect. Yea I’ll probably do what you suggested by using the joist. I don’t want to over complicate it.
First step I’m thinking get the LM. Wish I had the money for overhead. But I want something that works well. I am a 7 handicap and I have a 100mph plus iron swing. I want to get as accurate data as I can that’s not 5k+
Figure out mat situation. My brother wants to putt and stuff but for now prob add some tiles and a hitting strip. I will need lots of cushing for my bad drunk golfing Friends.
Then just drop some black or anything and use extra PC and monitor.
Yea I am thinking maybe uneekor mini lite or maybe XR. My brother and dad are going to pitch in 3k or so
