Ipswich Borough Council is set to discuss plans to build an 18-hole adventure golf course in Christchurch Park.

The plans, which were backed by Natural England earlier this month, will now be discussed by the council’s planning and development committee on Wednesday, January 7.

Each course looks to have a different obstacle on it, whether it be rocks, water hazards, loop the loop, humps and bridges.

The course would be built on the on the old lawn bowls green and has been recommend for approval by the council’s planning officers prior to the meeting.

Natural England has said that it has no objection to the plans, stating: “Natural England considers that the proposed development will not have significant adverse impacts on statutory protected nature conservation sites or landscapes.”

The planning statement says: “The proposal will preserve and enhance the special interest of the Christchurch Park Conservation Area, ensuring that this important public asset continues to evolve as a vibrant community space.”
