Cloverhill

The Weekend 12-hole Fiver Sweep competition saw the ‘Granemore Hare’ Malachy McClelland (21) take the honours with a countback victory over Noel Loughran (13).

Both players returned 32 points to relegate Benny Tierney (7) to third, a point adrift of the top two. All the sweep money was paid back out to the overall top two players and the top two finishers in the four different handicap categories:

Category 1 (+2 to 4)

1st Ruairi Ó Neill (scr) 27pts, 2nd Mark McKinley (4) 27pts

Category 2 (5 to 9)

1st Benny Tierney (7) 30pts, 2nd Declan Ó Neill (8) 28pts on the countback from Michael Lavelle (9) and Frank Ryan (7).

Category 3 (10 to 13)

1st Raymond Kelly (10) 27pts, 2nd Joseph Mathers (13) 25pts.

Category 4 (14+)

1st Aaron Maher (28) 24pts, 2nd Daithí Vize (16) 23pts.

A 12-hole Eclectic League starts this week with repeat play allowed across the three days of play – Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

There will be overall prizes for the top four, plus first and second in each of the four handicap categories, when the competition concludes on Sunday January 17.

Dundalk

The final week before Christmas saw two competitions taking place.

On the Friday and Sunday there was a 14-hole singles stableford played over four divisions.

The best score of the competition was produced by Patrick Clarke (11) who shot 34 points on his way to winning Division 2.

In Division 1 Gerry Mulligan maintained his good 2025 form by shooting 30 points to take the honours, while Peter Moran (11) shot a similar score in winning Division 3. Donal Corcoran (25) took Division 4 with 29 points.

On the Sunday there was a Christmas team competition which was won by the quartet of Ciaran Corbett, Peter Cunningham, Gordon Corry and Aidan Lawless who dovetailed brilliantly to shoot an excellent score of 77 points.

December 19/20 14-hole singles stableford:

Division 1: Gerry Mulligan (8) 30pts, Division 2: Patrick Clarke (11) 34pts, Division 3: Peter Jnr Moran (11) 30pts, Division 4: Donal Corcoran (25) 29pts.

December 21 Christmas 14-hole team competition:

Seapoint Ladies

Turkey stableford nine-hole competition played on December 27 & 28:

Cat 1 winner Margaret Burns (13) 21pts, 2nd Mia Kemp (7) 19pts; Cat 2 winner Caroline O’Neill (19) 23pts. Congratulations to the winners and well done to everyone who entered the competition.
