Brooks Koepka’s shock exit from LIV Golf has sent shockwaves through the league. Now all eyes are on Bryson DeChambeau as speculation mounts over whether the two-time major winner could be the next star to leave.
Brooks Koepka’s shock departure from LIV Golf has sent tremors through the league, but all eyes are now on its biggest star, Bryson DeChambeau, with speculation mounting over whether he could be next to follow Koepka out the door.
“I mean, look, it’s confidential. I’m not going to share too much, but the conversations are in process,” DeChambeau told Flushing It Golf, in relation to a possible LIV contract renewal. “We have to get to a place where both parties have a good understanding of one another. It is getting to a place that makes sense for both sides.
“And I think that can happen, but you never know. Life throws curve balls, and obviously, we saw what happened today [with Brooks leaving], and that was quite a shock to a lot of people. It is what it is.”
DeChambeau has previously expressed optimism about remaining on LIV. Back in June 2025, ahead of the US Open, he said: “Yeah, next year is when it ends. We’re looking to negotiate end of this year, and I’m very excited. They see the value in me. I see the value in what they can provide, and I believe we’ll come to some sort of resolution on that. Super excited for the future.”
But, more recently, he has painted a less certain picture of his LIV Golf future.
“It’s where I want to be, but ultimately, it’s got to make sense for everybody. Because I could just do YouTube golf and be totally fine as well.”
DeChambeau was one of the first players to join LIV and has seen it evolve since 2022 – but suggests he’d like to see more from the breakaway league before recommitting.
“Things have got to change. Things have got to improve. And I think Scott’s done a fabulous job with the year that he’s had. And I think this year’s going to be even better, now he’s got the right people in place and he can run the organization, the way he wants to do this here. So it’s going to be interesting to see, especially with the new branding coming on. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens.”

DeChambeau admits that Koepka’s departure affected his thinking about his own future.
“It’s a scenario that is very unique. With Brooks leaving, it definitely throws in some unique things. And look, I mean, like I’ve said all along, I want to do this, I want to grow team golf across the globe. But it has to be right. And there’s a lot of things that have to be done in order for it to be right, you know?”
Koepka’s departure sparked discussion about whether he might return to the PGA Tour, which could be damaging for LIV if its players are allowed to rejoin the sport’s biggest stage. DeChambeau acknowledged the risks:
“I don’t know, man. I don’t know what they should allow or not… If they’re going to be doing it by the book, they should do it by the book and not give any special exemption. But if there’s a special exemption, it definitely opens the doors for others to do the same, which, you know, it’s a slippery slope for sure.”
For now, DeChambeau’s future – and the broader fate of LIV Golf – remains in flux. One thing is certain: with Koepka gone, the league faces a pivotal moment, and everyone is watching to see who might make the next big move.
