City council in Saskatoon has narrowly voted in favour of exploring the potential relocation and redevelopment of Wildwood Golf Course.

The controversial proposal for relocation by a city councillor was met with a 6-5 vote in its favour.

CBC News reports it would cost millions to rebuild a new course to replace the 94-year-old facility – a matter not supported by public opinion.

The councillor proposing Wildwood’s relocation to accommodate development said a new golf course would have to open before the existing course’s closure.
