He has taken the green jacket out in public a few times but not often, because the protocols of the elders of Augusta National insist that the garment is too sacred for common display.
But in private you would hope that Rory McIlroy has indulged himself in a little bit of tomfoolery with it, such as slipping it on to put out the bins or to make breakfast for Poppy or to show it off to Lowry when they’re getting giddy over a few glasses of wine back at the mansion in Florida.
