Despite Christmas being just around the corner, Lakes Entrance Golf Club continues to attract impressive numbers to its weekly events.

Last Tuesday’s Ruthless and Toothless was won by the combination of Frank McNamara and Trevor Renfree, on a countback from Leslie Rodgers and Alan Taylor.

Lois Van Der Velden and Gen Egan were clear winners at Young and the Rest of Us, finishing two shots ahead of Lorna Tizani and Karen Nicholas.

Tizani also picked up the longest drive award, while Elaine Dobbin was still smiling after taking home the shortest drive, with Judith Collins winning nearest the tiger.

Wednesday’s medley stableford was dominated by Katrina Fearnley with a sensational 44 points, taking “A” grade and the overall event.

Ruth McPhee was all smiles after banking 40 points, but it was only good enough for “B” grade.

Thursday’s team Irish foursomes attracted a field of 70 players and was won by the combination of Chris Barnes, David Hatt, John Melrose and the spritely Ivan Witham with a score of 96.

In the individual event, Hatt took “A” grade on countback with 37 points, Bernie Hoppe was a popular winner in “B” grade with 39, while Witham shot a sensational 42 in his “C” grade victory.

The final Saturday before Christmas saw 104 players hit the fairways for medley stableford with some impressive scores recorded.

The field was led home by “D” grade veteran Ron Beattie, who won both on countback with 40 points.

In “A” grade Rick Murray continued his great recent form, victorious with 38 points, Brett Greer took “B” grade with 40, while Ian Stephens hit the ball well, winning “C” grade with 39 points on countback.
