  1. As a casual fan of the game that is pretty well versed in some basic math and physics, I think the easiest way to tell if a pass is caught or not is to see if the motion of the ball synchronizes with the motion of the receiver’s body before any part of the ball hits the ground. The motion of the ball must stay synchronized with the motion of the receiver’s body as it touches the ground and then until the receiver is able to get back on their feet. “Control” of the ball is established before the ball touches the ground and while the synchronized motion can break before the ball hits the ground, a player must resynchronize the motion of the ball with their body before it hits the ground. Now this brings up an interesting case because technically, Worthy’s hand had some sort of synchronized motion with the ball, however, Worthy himself did not synchronize the motion of the ball with his hand but rather he synchronized the motion of his hand with the defender’s hands, and therefore that would mean the defender had synchronized his hands with the ball which means the defender had possession. From the time the defender loses possession of the ball to the time the ball hits the ground, there is no point at which Worthy synchronized the the motion of the ball with the motion of his hand. Since Worthy failed establish any synchronized motion possession throughout the entirety of the play, this is an incomplete pass. This is the best explanation you are going to get, and I doubt that the replay booths even have half the knowledge it takes to make calls using the correct scientific approaches.

  2. Typical Brady. Makes a bad throw into coverage that shouldve been an easy pick and it turns into a first down.

  3. Never took his eyes off the ball and moved towards it the moment he landed. The types of players that win
