Good for him. Got in, got the LIV money and got out. All at the tender age of 30. His many dollars will go a bit further in Chile.

Will always be remembered for that erratic swing on 18 at the PGA Championship, however.

crazy how one moment can completely change your life. I wonder what the timeline would’ve looked like if he went on to with that PGA championship. Side note: being able to retire at 30 is a pretty insane opportunity to have

Perfect example of a guy who peaked at the right time and got overpaid to play exhibition golf. He was actually a pretty good golfer the season before LIV started, almost won a major, then dropped off the planet and probably made a load of money. looks like he got relegated this year too lol so I guess since the gravy train was stopping he might as well get off

That drive on 18 at the pga champ was wild. He aimed right and was trying to get it on the flat just in front of the creek. Pretty much chose the smallest target with the most risk, and with a 1 shot lead. Absolutely no reason to do that. Should have piped it down the left side and good chance he walks away with the win. But good on him. Made a ton of money joining liv and now gets to spend his time in chile with his family and, probably, helping to grow the game in south america. 🥂

Seemed to take the easy way out and now it makes sense

Unless you’re just the freakiest of all freaks, it takes never ending commitment to be on the PGA Tour or similar. It sounds like he doesn’t have that drive anymore, good for him.

He’s earned like 25M + whatever LIV paid him. He’ll be okay.

After some light googling looks like his on course earnings from LIV were just over $17m for 3 seasons. Contract numbers arent available but he probably got a $5-10$ million contract to go play originally.

For guys of his caliber thats a no brainer to take the money and play for LIV. $20 million for 3 years of work, now just gonna go post up on a beach in Chile and live the easy life. There is no possibility he is able to make that much, that fast, grinding on the PGA tour. And that’s the big reason why LIV is an uncompetitive joke of tour.

Congrats to Mito, he played the hand he was dealt as best he could. Talk about maxing expected value

Anyone who says they would do something different, that they wouldn’t take the blood money, is fooling themselves.

He had nowhere to play this season other than the Asian Tour. One of the major downsides of LIV’s relegation scheme.

if he was american, i’d be talking a lot shit

  9. sexibilia

That is a real pity. It was fun to watch him play.

He did have a pathway back to LIV Golf through the qualifiers. Anthony Kim will be attempting to qualify again.

Pereira’s whole life has been golf, and it sounds like he is burnt out and wants to go home.

Had some great moments, and pretty cool to be able to retire at 30.

I’m surprised more celebrities and athletes don’t build their nest egg and fade off into the sunset.

Just over three years after being one driver swing away from winning a major. I wonder if that mentally wrecked him

  13. Dangerous_Ad5039

He’ll be back in a couple years.

  14. ParForTheCourse26

I don’t blame him. He’s earned enough money to live like a king in Chile.

  15. Particular-Ad9304

LIV gravy train ended now he gets to sip piña coladas on the beach for the rest of his life

  16. Adventurous-Tea-876

He’s 30. His body is simply too old to swing a golf club anymore.
