Steve Burnett, England Golf’s deputy performance director, said: “England Golf aims to support a strong, aligned and inclusive performance pathway from club to national level, in order to identify, recruit, develop, support and retain world-class golfers capable of performing and winning at the highest levels of amateur golf.

“The Regional Performance Programme is a vital part of the pathway and it bridges the gap for young players showing promise at county level to push on and improve sufficiently to go on and play for England in the near future.”

Gloucestershire is the third most-represented county in the squad, behind Kent with 12 and Yorkshire with 11.

The programme has produced many elite golfers and is designed to offer a ‘fun, engaging and individualised’ pathway for young players to progress in the sport.
