[Music] so up until now we’d actually been modeling our swings at pretty neutral delivery basically a robot swing uh modeling effectively a good swing or a perfect swing most driver faces are designed using a robot with a series of impact locations we knew that wasn’t going to be the case for real golfers so we talked to the team about how they could adjust our inputs how we could change our optimization routines to account for how a player delivers the golf ball we’re taking over 250,000 swings from golfers all over the world and we’re using that data to create a face unlike has ever been out there before [Music] the Paradigm driver uh has been a wild success so when we talked about how to replace it we really knew from day one it was going to be a tall order Paradigm is an awesome driver it was our first entrance into this platform technology of 360 carbon chassis so inevitably you end up being a little more conservative going into AI smoke we really wanted to take all that conservative design method away be extremely aggressive for that we really turned to our Innovation team and we looked at them for some kind of a technology breakthrough in in the AI space Paradigm AI smoke product line is all about AI smart face so what the AI smart face technology is doing is really taking a Leap Forward in terms of artificial intelligence on off-center hits it is going to create a series of micro deflections mini trampolines we call them so that if you miss the ball off the heel it’s not going to have as much of that cut spin if you hit it off the toe it’s it’s going to have a little bit maybe more spin than it would have so it’s not going to dive out of the air and it’s still going to be extremely long off of the the center of the face the real breakthrough with the smart face is for the first time we’re using Real Player swing Dynamics in the simulation looking at the Players impact locations face to path attack angle swing speeds we have a test center that we can test product at collect data but we’re not just leveraging our test center we’re using all of the players getting fit out in the real world we have a gold Panel test where we have elite players that we have come in and do testing uh we test with consumers so we try and test with a broad range of handicaps and abilities and ages and then kind of start to put it into different buckets by being more golfer Centric and thinking like golfers as Engineers we’re able to get the AI to function as if it’s your partner in year round the big thing we did this year was organizing those data into buckets that match the models we were designing for because a max player swings different than a Max D player than a triple diamond player than a Max fast player not only giving us just the average swing for those players but also all of the Tendencies for those players in the past when you hit one low heel say oh I hit that on the low heel now that’s going to become like a sweet spot out on the high toe that’s going to be a sweet spot so it’s not just hitting it in the center of the face it’s all over the face you have all these different sweet spots and that’s really driven by Ai and the new AI smartface for this driver we wanted something that was visibly differentiated from Paradigm we put a lot of effort into uh the look of it the industrial design we wanted to make sure that it was not viewed as any kind of a a follow-on program it’s really a totally new driver and so we came up with an all new look uh the smoke carbon fiber uh composite really distinctive look something that we think really emotes speed and power with smoke everything thing is unique the actual smoke and the and the kind of vapor trail so that was part of it and then we love the idea of just getting out there and just smoking a driver hitting it hard smoke it down the Fairway so one of the biggest challenges with AI smoke was the debate of jailbreak no jailbreak jailbreak has been one of the most important Technologies really in the history of Callaway golf we’ve had it since the Great Big Bertha driver and what jailbreak did is stiffen the crown and sole which allowed the the face to be faster and it really impacted the boundary layer around the face now with this new AI smart face we’re able to make changes and tweaks to that boundary layer that’s basically integrating the performance of jailbreak into the face what is that doing well that’s saving us six and seven grams which were able to distribute to make the driver lower center of gravity and once again more forgiving so on Paradigm the 360 carbon chassis was kind of a key design element but it gave us a distin performance Advantage it was the lightest weight body we had ever created so the engineers went back to that and really tried to take as much weight out of that carbon chassis as possible we have an even thinner composite sole uh We’ve saved about 15% over Paradigm which allowed us to reposition that weight back into the club head for more performance being part of this process I I’ve learned that there’s more out there people always say drivers can’t get better they can’t get faster they can’t get tighter down range but what we’ve been able to unlock using AI is something we’ve never seen before and it gives me great hope for the future of driver design we’re not building these clubs to be hit by robots we’re building them to be put in the hands of players and so if we can use their Tendencies and their swing Dynamics as part of the design process and part of our optimization it’s just going to be a lot more effective uh when it’s put in their hands we’ve been on this AI Journey now for over 10 years and we’re constantly building out infrastructure around it we’ve invested in people we’ve invested in hardware and software we just see uh that we’re we’re really just scratching the surface so we’re excited about what’s to come [Music]
