simplifying this rule would be an very very easy way of taking lots and lots of time off a round. I would like in all seriousness I would like the governing bodies to take a real look at stroke and distance. I appreciate that some that’s going to upset some golfers but the rule as it is I think I’ve said on the podcast before I think the rule as it currently stands has only been in since 1964. So it’s not just just it’s not like it’s not like it’s been in since although I think it was stroke and distance effectively in 1744 in the first rules but it’s had all kinds of different bits and bobs. >> Don’t really know where to start with that. >> And I think you really need to look at it from a pace of play perspective if you’re serious about pace of play. I know that golfers listening will say well just take a provisional every time. But even a provisional takes time. You know, you get a ball out, you declare the provisional, you set up to hit the provisional, you hit the ball, you then not always know where that provisional is. So, you can get into a position, can’t you, where you’re looking for multiple balls on occasion. I mean, the quickest way I’m I’m looking at doing some rules of golf u meetings next year. And there’s a there’s a slide in the new club presentation which basically says if every golfer in a four ball took 5 seconds fewer to hit a shot, you’d say 30 minutes over a course of a round. And this simplifying this rule would be an very very easy way of taking lots and lots of time off a round.
