If I’m not mistaken, there actually are water wedges. They’re shaped like a comb where the teeth of the comb run up the face of the club. Allows the club to cut through the water and hit the ball with minimal resistance

I’d imagine that requires a very precise water level to work. If the ball is fully submerged the shot is almost impossible.
