This setup drill is perfect if your stance gets too narrow with the driver or you struggle to hit up on the ball. Start with both feet together on the alignment stick, flare the left foot, then step the right foot out farther than feels natural. This creates the wider base you need for a stronger launch angle, better balance, and more consistent contact. A more stable, athletic stance often means more distance without swinging harder.

So start with feet together, ball in the middle of the feet. We’re going to get that left foot and flare it to the target. And then the right foot, we’re going to step to the side and land. And you can now see that ball is well forward in the stance. Now, we’ve had a lot of comments, people recently saying, “Yeah, we know we should have the ball forward in the stance.” But guess what? We’re still doing the videos because we still see people who need to get the golf ball further forward in the stance. The beauty of this is when Andy landed his right leg behind the golf ball as well, he’s probably got about 60% of his weight on that back foot. He’s now optimized to hit this drive. So from there, all he’s going to do, he’s just going to hit it, and he’s going to be hitting it on the way up. This is a very simple hack that you can take to the golf course.
