Listen to the noise. It’s the day Sunderland fans have been looking forward to all season. One that’s been ringed on the calendar since their return to the Premier League and the first league meeting against Newcastle since March of 2016. Sunderland sit proudly above their arch rivals. And no, they haven’t lost any of the last nine Premier League encounters against them, winning six of those. An incredible atmosphere greets the teams here at the Stadium of Lights. A rip roaring rockous atmosphere for a very special occasion over 10 years since the last league meeting between the two here at the Stadium of Light. So hold on to your hats for what could well be a wild but wonderful afternoon. [cheering] Here’s Rhaldo. [cheering] Raldo again. That’s a decent ball forward. Enzo Lefay trying to get on the end of it. Robbie’s there as well. Almost in each other’s way. So, Granite Shaka will take started every Premier League game since his arrival here. [cheering] Here’s Trey with the outside of the boot. It’s not a bad delivery and it’s put behind by Mallet Shaw. Wasn’t far away from being at home goal. This was a wicked ball in, wasn’t it, from Triayore. Hit perfectly with the outside of the boot. Now Triayore no way through initially. Granite Shaka urged to shoot. He does and fires one high over the crossbar from distance. Granite Shaka Lefay Shaka again. There’s the delivery. There’s the header from Well, he got forward well, hasn’t he? Dan Ballard. Jaca put it into the box and he came flying in. Did Ballard at the far post and he couldn’t get the direction he wanted on it and he climbed high above Lmenso but he just couldn’t keep it down. Lefay brings in Ballard. Out wide is Mukielli. Mukielli for Jaca. Out for Triayore. Triayor. Can someone create something right at the depth of this first half? That is it. Stoppage time is up. Halime at the Stadium of Light in the Wean Derby. It’s goalless. And in truth, neither goalkeeper really troubled. It’s been a game of raw emotion. The nerves clearly palpable. And there’s a fear factor in this fixture because it’s one you do not want to lose. Can Sunland get the vital breakthrough in the second half? that will unfold and we will see exactly how it does unfold in the second period. Halftime at the Stadium of Light. It is Sunland nil, Newcastle nil. So teams back out and ready to go for the second half of this wean derby. [cheering] Sunderland will attack the Roker end in the second half here and Sadiki will get this second period underway. It was a game in the first half that was played with real passion and commitment but in truth not too much football. In fact, the stats will tell us that it was the Premier League game with the fewest shots in the first half of any this season and the fewest touches inside the penalty area. [cheering] Here’s Triayore and Sunderland looking to get off to a flying start in the second half. [cheering] Muki Elli does go long right into the heart of that sixyd box away as far as Granite Shaka. >> Here’s Mukielli. DELIVERED NICELY INTO THE PENALTY AREAS HEADED AT AN OWN GOAL FROM BALTIMORE. OH, SUNDERLAND STRIKE EARLY IN THE SECOND HALF. AND LOOK AT THE SCENES. IT’S A GOAL THAT MEANS SO SO MUCH. NO MATTER WHO’S PUTTING INTO THE NET, IT’S A NEWCASTLE PLAYER. IT’S A SUNDERLAND GOAL THAT MEANS THE WORLD TO THESE FANS. INCREDIBLE. The German international putting it beyond his own goalkeeper and Sunderland lead in the we time derby. It is an enormous a massive goal headed powerfully beyond his own goalkeeper. Voltoada seeing it fly past Aaron Ramdale. It was a great delivery from Muki Elli but he didn’t expect to be on the end of it but that is just wonderful from the Sunblown viewpoint. Yes, that is what it means. Garez [screaming] loose hall getting forward. There’s Willock. Guaras thought about having a crack. He does now. And Ruth is right behind it. That’s not troubling him. And he wasn’t getting the better of Sunland’s number number one. This cross into the penalty areas away as far as Gimmere who gets it out of his feet and there’s a save from Robin Roose which is straightforward enough. Garez the second time today having a poke at goal and Robin Rof’s watched it all the way. Here’s Alder. Alder’s ball forward. It’s a good one. It’s Wilson. Izzy. It’s Izzy. Good save Ramdale. Isidor controlled it brilliantly and got the shot away superbly well. It was on target all right but saved by the goalkeeper. Nicely done that by Isidor on the chest and then on the volley and on target to Roose. All eyes on the referee Peter Banks as we await his whistle. Great challenge Trey Hugh. Look at that. Look what it means. Still we play on. Listen to the noise. [cheering] Oh, what a noise inside the stadium of lights. It means the world. We’re not too far away from Christmas. But that is the best present ever for Sunderland fans. Victory over the Arch rivals. A one- nil victory over Newcastle courtesy of an own goal as well. Nick Voltoard putting through his own net inside a minute after the restart. It means that Sunderland are guaranteed to be above Newcastle for Christmas. The gift of three points over Newcastle is the most welcome of early presence and one that Sunderland fans will treasure. It’s a game that you simply don’t want to lose. The most important one of the season. It’s a result that can change the mood of a city and all that raw emotion now is out and Sunderland have done it. Passion, commitment in what was a wonderful atmosphere inside the stadium of light. A rivalry that dates back as far as the English Civil War. It’s a unique derby and Sunderland are victorious and it means everything to those Sunderland fans. Home is where the heart is this season for Sunderland. Unbeaten here and they’ve got the results that the fans oh so wanted. Sunland won Newcastle nil.

  1. Woltemade just HAD to score on his first tyne derby. As he's done consistently this season. And he's just done that 😂😂😂. There are many ways to make your mark in such a fixture. He's shown us one way to do it.

  2. Small gripe I have as a neutral is why can’t both teams wear their home kits? There never was a clash of kits before!
