I personally think golf is getting far too expensive and a lot of these big companies are using high handicap or beginner golfers as a scapegoat to sell expensive clubs. Well, today we’re going to put that to the test because we have the brand new PXG Lightning Hybrid in 34 degrees of loft. This is an 8iron replacement. We also have the 11 hybrid which is 35° in loft and again an eight iron replacement. You can see exactly where we’re trying to go with this. Just how much quality, just how much performance do you get for spending £270 and just how much do you get for spending 90 quid? That’s what we’re going to put to the test today. And I also have my 7iron, which is guess what, Bob? >> 34° of loft. So, we’re going to see just how much difference these can actually make, just how much of a performance benefit we get. And I’ll kick off with my seven iron on this par three. We’re about 160 yards out into the wind, so it could be quite a difficult opening shot to this video. I don’t think we’re going to have the versatility with the hybrids that we’ll have with my seven iron, but we’ll go with it. That’s a lovely shot at the back. Nice big high fade just towards the right hand side of this green. That’s just short right. It wasn’t the world’s best strike, but it of course wasn’t the world’s worst strike either. Now, I think a lot of people who are looking at clubs like this are maybe looking because you’re not overly confident with your irions at all. I think an eight iron is a club where I’d like to have an iron, I think. But then I always remember my dad using these and he said, “James, it makes golf so much easier. It makes it so much simpler that to be honest, I think there is definitely a club out there for everyone.” So, this 11 hybrid costs you 90. You get change. You get a tenn of change from 100 quid. Bob, I find that absolutely outrageous. If we put these two clubs down side by side, you can see obviously there’s lots and lots of loft on there, so they do look quite outlandish and quite interesting. Big differences in tech here. So, we do have a carbon crown on the PXG. That’s certainly something to bear in mind. And we also have a movable weight structure on the back of the PXG as well. So, you could go and get fitted for these and move these weights around and really get each iron or each club to perform exactly how you’d want it. We also have an adjustable loft sleeve. So, we could bring this kind of back in line with that 35° if we wanted to or notch it down a touch. I don’t really know why you’d do that because it doesn’t make sense to me. If you got a high lofted hybrid, keep it as high lofted. I think front bunkers a good shot with these into this wind. I think we’re a little bit far out, but they are quite good for distance as we know. Look at that. very similar ball flight to the 7 iron. I do think it’s going to be short again. They are side by side. So the 7 iron and the 11 hybrid side by side there with these first opening T-shots but does spending an extraund 180 quid Bob that is like >> you can get three and the funny thing is you can just buy the full set for like500 pound. So, if you’re after this, like, would you buy just one of these as a little bit of a kind of a safety club? You could say, a rescue club as these were known back in the day, or would you go and get yourself a full set of the 11? Right. Nice turfing traction so far, Bob. It’ll We’ll take that. You can take nice divots with these hybrids. So, can we hit this? Looks really lofted. Can we hit the green? Oh, look at that. That’s a better better flight. The wind’s bringing that back straight away. That is front bunker. Now, I did say front bunker be a decent shot here. Let’s go up and see exactly where all these shots have finished and we’ll test these uh slightly closer yardage cuz I think when we talk about numbers for these clubs, as we will do in this video, they’re very, very consistent and they might shock you just a little bit. So you can see that the 7 I is actually the worst shot of the three. It was an okay strike. We are into probably about 20 mph wind here today. It just got up and carried a little bit. Now that’s the 11 hybrid there which again it’s on the same line as a 7. It’s a better distance up towards this green. And we have the PXG hybrid plugged in that bunker just there. So realistically distance-wise not a lot to go between the 11 hybrid and the PXG hybrid. the seven iron. However, should we all be using all hybrids? Bob, >> maybe. Let’s continue. So, guys, as you all may know, I have joined forces with the guys at Caddy Comps. So, if you want the chance to win a prize from as little as 79p, make sure you check out the link. Right, very interesting there from our partners at Caddy Comp. Some fantastic prizes to win. Good luck to everyone who wants to enter. Now, we’re in the rough. We’ve got the seven iron, we’ve got the 11, and we’ve got the PXG. Guys, do me a favor and comment below. Which one could you see yourself gaming? If any, would you still have the irons? Would you go into the hybrids? I think it’s only fair, Bob. Do we set oursel shaft lengthwise? all exactly the same as well, which I didn’t realize until this moment as I put them all down there. But we’ll go seven iron first. We’re in the roof. I’m going to try and get some like dodgy lies. You like not bad lies, but dodgy ones like that where you wouldn’t really be sure what you’d hit. So, it needs to be a bit of a fade in. We’re 60 out to that back flag. I’d feel okay at this with a seven iron to be fair. Like I’m obviously a guy who does use irons mostly. Oh, that was really nice. Look at the wind. Take that now though, Bob. right hand side of the green. That was like everything that I want from a mid iron. It was a lovely strike. It was nice and high in the air. The wind took it. I can’t believe how much the wind’s taken that actually. So, we’ll go. Do we go budget or do we go expensive? >> PXG. Bob wants to see the PXG. Right. How’s that going to lie now? I want it worse than that. There again. Little bit of a dodgy one. Not knee high cuz you just hack it out. PXG. The wind’s going to move this as we know. Loads of loft looking down at this. Still get that handle forward. Oh wow. The one thing I will say that’s going to be close actually. That’s really good. The one thing I’ll say is the PXG does sound and feel quality. I think quality is an unfair word because the 11 clubs do feature an immense amount of quality especially for the price. Obviously we have those KBS shafts in there as well which are nice premium components. More shaft options with the PXG you could say. So again, that’s something which we need to be aware of. Another bit of a dodgy lie. Can this be the same as the PXG or even better? Handle forward a bit. Funny, that’s kind of dipping down a bit. The wind hasn’t moved that as much and I feel like that’s come out almost dead because of the lie. Let’s get up there and see where they are. I think the PXG is going to be closest and the iron the iron might be the only one that’s missed the green again. Is that telling me something about what I need in my bag, Bob? Could be. Could be. So guys, as you can see, front to back dispersion wise, the iron’s gone that little bit further even though it carried on the wind. The iron is the only club that missed the green. The PXG has gone nicely center of the green. It stopped dead, as you can see, with that pitch mark. And the 11 did really, really well, actually. And this is this is a an element of the 11, which I think is fantastic that if you do hit it out the roof and you get that kind of dippy one, it’s released all the way up to the green. So, if you didn’t see the shots, you didn’t see the ball flights, you’d have no idea that it’s pitched all the way back there. So, realistically, which one’s done better for us there. Now, one of the areas that I think a lot of people would have these in the bag for is if you’ve missed it short, you’ve got 20 yards here and you just don’t know what to do. A putter probably won’t have enough ball speed to generate to make it easy, but a wedge becomes very difficult cuz you can duff it. Now, these hybrids have an infinite amount of loft. Bobby, what have I just said there? Inf infinite amount of bounce is what I meant to say. So, um, let’s hit a couple with the 11 because this is something which I found helps so many golfers. Literally, all you’re doing is that you’re just rocking your shoulders backwards and forwards. And as you can see, it does take a bit of time to learn how hard to hit it and how fiery they come off even between the two clubs. But you saw how aggressive and how attacking we can be there with that. And because it does come out so low, it releases nice and consistently every single time. Even myself as a PJ professional, probably wouldn’t put that that close with a putter or a wedge, especially a seven iron that we have there. So, do we get any benefit of the expensive PXG here? Does look nicer down at the ball obviously with that visual tech with the carbon, but is that going to help us to get more consistent shots here? Maybe not. I think we do start to see more consistent ball speeds with this on m hits. That’s where the technology comes in. That’s where it can help us. But realistically, the guys who are using this, is a couple of mph ball speed really going to make a big difference. Certainly, it feels softer off the face around the green. That may well be a benefit. But you can see just how consistent we are with all these. And honestly, I think this could be the club that can transform your game from 100 yards and in the most even if you just buy one of them. Did that nearly go in or did it just nearly >> incredible? And you see guys, the really interesting thing is when it came to the numbers between these clubs when testing them, the ball speed on the PXG was astronomically higher. It was 3 mph higher. The spin rate was more, but the carry distances were very, very similar because of the lower spin rate with the 11 hybrid. So, as you can see, very similar distances, just going about it a little bit of a different way and of course for quite a different price. And finally, one of the areas I really want to touch on with these clubs is versatility, because I think that’s what you’re paying for with the PXG. If you are paying top dollar, you have the adjustments, you have the adjustable neck, and you of course have that little bit more tech. Even that kind of ridge sole in here just allow you to hit slightly different shots. So, we’re 160 out here. We’re downwind. I don’t want to hit it high and ride the wind here. I want to flight it down and just kind of pat it down there. Can we do that with either of these clubs? Cuz I think that he’s going to have a big say on which one you may go for. So, ball back in the stance. And as you can see, that is absolutely all over. That’s the exact swing that I was hoping for. And that’s done incredibly well. I mean, lots of turf interaction. I think it’s fair to say, Bob. Um, this is what you get, though, with clubs like this. Obviously with this amount of loft generally that’s what you do see. Now can we recreate that with the 90 quid 11? It’s a little bit skinny but I think we’ve gotten away with it again. And this is where really you do start to see your money’s worth with these clubs especially the 11 that cost like I said less than £100. Guys, get in the comments below. Which one could you see yourself using in 2025, moving into 2026, and could it make golf that little bit easier for you moving forward? As you can see with the PXG, nice bit of stopping power and uh to about six feet. The 11 actually did okay. It’s down there for the strike that we got. We’ve gotten away with it. We’ll take it.

Hi
Don't put too much stock in a single shot. When you hit several shots in succession the following shots have a definite advantage.
Interesting comparison James. As I think you said in your video you could buy several Eleven clubs for the price of the PXG. There doesn’t seem to be much of a performance difference.
The beauty of the Eleven is that you can buy one club to try it. I did that, loved it, and bought some more. I recently ordered the 4 to complete the set. I ordered it on a Monday evening and it was delivered on Wednesday morning. Brilliant! It's not as if it was an off the shelf club. I'm a left handed senior, so ordered it with a 60g light regular shaft, and their unusual arthritic jumbo grip. It obviously had to be built to order. I've long been a fan of hybrids, and have had Cobra, Ping, Callaway and PXG, and the Eleven is every bit as good as these and much cheaper. Being able to buy individual clubs means that if cash is tight you can order as many as you can afford at the time. Top stuff!
Eleven clubs are fantastic I have 5 to pw and the mini driver and looking to add a 4 hybrid and an xl 2hybrid early next year.
£80 to £90 is what I'm willing to pay for a hybrid. That's what I did. A second hand cobra 16 degree and a wilson adjustable 18 to 20 degree loft and lie.(previous year stock but new). Both work great.
Great and informative review. Are you setting up with the same ball location in your stance with all clubs? I game Elevens & 8,9,PW irons.
PXG James, but I do have the same irons…
I added some TSR1s to the bag they are like a Hywood. Super easy to hit
Here in the states no one knows Eleven but thanks to you I have ordered a 7 hybrid from them and it's on the way. Thanks for these videos!
Thanks James , I have added the 3,4,5 eleven hybrids to my bag for next year, love how clean they are, KBS shaft and Ti head ,great components. Crazy I added all three for the price of one PXG also I don't think all that engineering gets you much .
James, I think choice is a no brainer here regarding price, you keep on about shaping shots but the players these clubs are aimed at couldn't give a fig about shot shaping
ELEVEN, l have full set from Driver down to Sand wedge, 57 year old man, dropped my handicap from 33 to 19.6 in 6 months……it's a no brainer.
James, if you're out playing with all ELEVEN clubs , what are u carrying for wedges
Great review on two fantastic hybrids
I game the Eleven XL.-2 hybrid great club for the money
I shot my age, 73, this past summer in NW Indiana, with a full set of Eleven hybrids. Some players would see these Eleven clubs in my bag and think I was a hack. Like a 20-handicap player telling me I like the look of a player's iron and need to shape my shots, really?
