Wickliffe Service Director Dave Krofcheck recently reported the irrigation system at Green Ridge Golf Course has been completed.

The large project had been ongoing at 29150 Ridge Road.

According to Krofcheck, approximately four sprinkler heads were installed per green and two per tee box. A pump will be needed in the future.

The water from the pond at the course will be used for the irrigation, Krofcheck said.

“A new suction system that uses the water from the surface of the pond has been added, which should work out well,” he said. “It has been winterized and will be restarted in the spring.”

Councilperson James Bala said he noticed that there are some valves that are above ground at the golf course. He has requested that something be added to protect these from damage by golf carts.

Krofcheck said he plans to look into this going forward.

Mayor Joe Sakacs said that since he took office, one of his main goals has been to focus on being able to take pride in the course. The city has since worked with a turf specialist on the course.

“We have a golf course manager, who does his best, but we needed somebody,” Sakacs said.

Although the city can’t afford to have a full-time turf specialist for Green Ridge, advice from one was still sought out to address the greens.

In addition to the irrigation, updating the piping at the course is on the city’s agenda.
