Hello everyone and welcome to the second and final round of the 2025 Phoenix Ladies Open presented by the law offices of Paul J. Sacko. We’re at the stripe show disc golf club where Jennifer Allen put a hurt on the course during the first round. Ashley Phelps trying to make her move. Amy Schiller joining the card. World champ Amy Schiller that is. And Anna Marie Maguire rounding out the card. As I said, it’s our final round. We have front half and back half. We’ve got 23 holes. It’s going to be about 12 and 11, I think, as they’re broken up. And excited to give you the action. Just 195 ft. 59 m for the first hole. Do not go right. You see the OB parking lot on the right hand side. Pretty straightforward shot to get things started. Just stay out of the right side. Jennifer Allen with a 17 under in the opening round. 17 out of 23. Yeah, Ashley shot an 11 under. >> Got some work to do. six back of our leader Amy Schiller 1990 world champion Amy Schiller and that’s just disc golf world title. Unbelievable resume that Amy Schiller has throughout her frisbee days and frisbee throwing playing career ultimate. Certainly an overalls and >> freestyle uh Hall of Famer, world champ and everything in between. Anna Marie goes with the forehand. >> Amy >> jumper from shallow circle two doesn’t connect and a shot a five under in the opening round. When looking at some of these unofficial ratings, Jen’s opening round rated 1022, Ashley’s round rated 963, Amy Schiller 915, and Anna Maguire 9005. So, all four of these women playing significantly above their player rating during that opening round. We have 10 women in the FPO field as we’re seeing the cleanup here on hole one and a drop in birdie for Ashley. We head to hole two downhill playing as a gentle bend. You got to go through the double mando and then a gentle bend going from right to left. OB on this short left side and then a canopy of trees kind of guarding and lining the entire fairway. At least the last third of the fairway. >> What trees? sets up great for a righty backhand thrower. You’d like to see it lower because that actually goes into the OB on the left side. just barely missing left side. >> That’s going to be a drop zone coming up for Amy. Oh, I think it went behind it. >> Well, so there’s some discussion as to whether or not she missed the drop zone, but she thinks she did. And so emphatically just said, “I’m going to the drop zone or missed the bando, excuse me, said she’s going to the drop zone and she was going to play from there.” Of course, you get the one-stroke penalty. It was really tough to tell if she actually missed or not. You could go back on the footage and look for yourself. I’m not convinced that she crossed the plane, but uh I think the result would ultimately be the same. >> Get it. >> Plus, nobody on the card has the uh luxury of having any form of video evidence or replay. >> High right chain not able to save the bogey. Amy, however, is able to save Bogey. Somewhat of a small sample size, I realize when I’m giving you these stats, but taking a look at hole number two, playing as the fourth most difficult out here. Oh, excuse me. That was in round one. Round two, it played as the single most difficult hole on the course. as we head to hole three. 331 ft. >> Plays somewhat flat initially and then a slight incline up to the basket. Uh sitting on this edge. Danger directly behind the pin. Not so much worrying about an OB, but just trying to avoid any kind of rollaways. Nice. Right on. Right on. We’ve yet to see a birdie on hole number three today. Top of the shelf right side. You can see the wind that’s picked up. dealing with some interesting conditions that there’s actually rain in the forecast. And the fact that we haven’t dealt with any real rain up until this point is actually crazy considering the forecast said we were going to get rained on most of the day. >> Right on. Yeah, really good. >> Big drive off to the left side. Not quite in birdie range unless she can make a long one. We’ll see if Ash has got a long one. Yeah, not much room over there. not getting aggressive understandably. So, Jen can probably play a little bit more aggressive than normal. >> She’s sitting on a a pretty comfortable lead and knows that there’s a ton of birdies out here, so I feel like she can go after a few extra if she needs to. That’s a good power save there by Anna. Couple more tapins for par. Unfortunately, hole three went birdie free for the day. >> One of only two holes that would ultimately do that. We’ll see what other one was difficult. As we head to the fourth, just a nice kind of gentle hiser. You could take a little bit of an inside ride round, excuse me, an inside route or you could go much wider if you wanted to. Jen’s electing to go straight up the middle. >> Goes deep. That dog will hunt. >> Wow. >> Ashley looks to be lining up the wider route. So, Jen went up the middle. Ash is gonna play way out to this right side. And that’s a little too wide. I love the idea trying to take the tunnel out of play. I feel like then you’re not getting caught up as early, but she needs to keep that closer. >> Beautiful shot. >> You can just flex it. >> What a shot by Amy. Amy told me this is the first time she’s ever been filmed and featured for a disc golf round. >> Good job. >> There’s some old footage of out there out there of her doing some of her incredible freestyle acts and routines. As I mentioned earlier, she won the 1990 World Championships coincidentally in Phoenix. 1991 her title defense. Ah, she didn’t show up. She wasn’t concerned. >> Dang it. >> Jen’s short for a second time in a row. uh she didn’t show up and wasn’t concerned cuz she had other frisbee disciplines that she was super excited about and playing and uh disc golf wasn’t her full-time first passion in the frisbee world which is incredible to say you won the worlds and was like I got other stuff to do too which is so unbelievable I love earlier this year. Uh just to go a little bit more on her disc golf resume, earlier this year she placed third at the Pro Masters Worlds in FP60. So third in FP60 and I believe in 2024 she was your world champ in FP60 which is just absolutely incredible. So titles upon titles, some in disc golf, some in ultimate, some in overalls, freestyling, you name it. A true frisbee fanatic as we’re looking at hole five 265. Amy has the tea. >> Beautiful. >> It’s just all about missing those two or three guardians. I feel like if you miss those, you’re coming in with any bit of speed, you should have a look for birdie. Easier said than done sometimes. >> Round the tree >> and a circles edge putt. Probably 265 plays a little longer cuz it’s slightly uphill. >> That’s it for her. >> I don’t think it took too high of a skip. Okay. >> Ashley. Not much of a skip. I like the line, but I was waiting for that to skip forward. And you can see some inconsistencies here in the terrain. She thought she had it just short. >> Okay, basket. Let’s be nice. >> All right. I’m I’m sensing a theme here. Jen’s been short on the last two. Oh, that one was right, but it’ll flop in for her. Let me see. Both Amy and Ashley both a little bit short. Anna with the shortest look and she connects. And with that, we move to the relatively easy par five that we find on hole number six. It is playing as the second easiest hole on the course. is 529 ft. >> Perfect opening shot. Exactly what you need. Obviously, the mistakes to be made are to pull it wide right and get caught up or I feel like it’s much more forgiving on the left side, but just don’t pull it into the right side. If some of those trees come into play down there, you’re going to be just fine. I think you got plenty of room to work with. There’s only a couple of them. So, I love the big pull by Jen there. pretty much center cut for Ashley. You figure backto back shots of that nature should pretty much get you to the pin. And if this isn’t an old school Frisbee thrower, I don’t know what is. Going with the turnover backhand roller to put herself perfectly into the fairway. Does that have the turn? >> Oh, I like it. >> What a shot. >> Nice. >> Comes out at the end, but still certainly in range for an eagle look. Not sure if that was nose up or if she just meant to start it more to the left. Either way, she’ll have a long look for the eagle. >> Nice flat line. And you heard her say, “I just don’t want to be short this time.” Problem is, if you go too far long, you then have to think about the comeback putt with that hill. kind of a half bid and no bid coming from Anna just saying she didn’t want to have that hill to deal with whatsoever and possibly missing and coming back. She could slide to where Jen is or beyond and an eagle. Jen Allen no problem picking up the three. Amy with an eagle gets her to two under on the round >> and then we’ll see a couple of birdies. So, two Eagles, two birdies as they destroy whole sex. >> Hi, my name and I use LG backpack card. I use LG back card because I can put my grip bag in and out. so easily form like so heavy in your back and then you use a car and you not feel any pressure on your back. Hallelujah. You know, the more option is better. Everything your life, right? Like you eat burger to the steak. That’s how I feel. Backpack, no backpack. Boom. This is the answer right here. And big shout out to Zuka who had supported three of my women’s focused event coverages this year. the Tim Sinsky where I covered FP40 along with the Rocky Mountain Women Championship along with this event at the Phoenix Ladies Open. So, big thank you to Zuka for supporting my FPO and FP40 coverage this year. Oh, okay. That’s easy. Jen, who’s five under through six holes, looking to go six under through seven. >> Out of bounds, Amy throws it over to the fence on the right side. >> Get a spot on it. >> Yeah, like that first probably like half. >> And I love that what we just heard from Amy. And that’s such a great pro tip in general. Anytime you see somebody go out of bounds or if you go out of bounds yourself, if it if you think there’s going to be a discussion later about where it happened, go ahead and just call it out while it’s immediately fresh in their mind and you’re looking at it from that perspective. A lot of times you’ll get up to a spot and like, well, I think you’re over here and I think you’re over there and I can’t tell from where we’re standing now cuz it looks different. I love that Amy said, “Did you get a spot on it?” and just trying to kind of get an idea right away. And it could be adjusted when you get closer and the group has that conversation, but at that moment, go ahead and get some visuals so you have a reference point when you get closer to where it happened. I I love that. Okay. A famous line by Ashley. Am I out? Meaning outside of the circle and she was deemed outside of the 10 m circle. So, she’s allowed to jump, putt, and follow through. Umbrellas are out. We got fence jumping. What is going on here? Oh, okay. A little teamwork. >> Teamwork. >> There it is. Yeah, teamwork. retrieving of Amy’s OB drive. >> Good putt. That’ll save the bogey. Pretty much best case scenario after the OBT shot. Anna in for the par. Jen stepping up. Pick up yet another birdie again. Six under through seven holes. Can she top the pace of getting 17 out of 23 last round and we head to the eighth. Definitely a difficult hole. A double mando, meaning you have to go through these two trees. Of course, the OB pond is on the right side. Somewhat of a canopy here. And just trying to avoid those trees. This is a difficult one. Playing as the third most difficult hole on the course. right behind me. >> Jen’s almost pin high off to the left of the trees or left of the basket I should say by the tree. >> No forehand. I tried forehand and I No, that was I tried forehand on the last and I missed the sounds like a little strategy switch up. Anna normally thinking would might be thinking forehand opts for the backand and I like that forehand that checks up before the OB pond and it gives her an open look. And that will leak left. Little less stability, I think, is what’s needed. But if you’re going to miss anywhere, miss to the left over here on the left side. You should have an easy approach and you’re not dealing with the pond. That’s the the payoff there. I’d rather you miss left than throw it into the water on the right, obviously. Get it. >> Not in by much. She had to beg for it. >> She’s running. >> Is that Kobe? M. Well, okay. To be fair. Jen’s more my age, so that might be more of an an MJ reference. You guys can have that fight about Kobe, MJ, LeBron, who whoever you want to fight about being one of the greatest of all time. That’s another day. Okay. Okay. Raising the heart rate just a little. She’ll walk away with par. Jen would be the only birdie of the 10woman FPO field. So, you saw it here, folks. The only birdie in the field comes from Jen. And in fact, >> there’s a humming. I was trying to point out there’s a humming >> hole eight. She also had the only birdie or excuse me, hole seven, the previous one, the only birdie in the field. So, Jen out here birdieing when no one else is. This one sets up great. 292 slightly uphill. Clearing the water shouldn’t be a problem for any of our FPO players. It’s a matter. Do you have the distance to drive to the excuse me to the pin? >> Get up. >> All right. She’s had two or three putts. She said get up. And then now on a drive she’s asking for it to get up. Anna flexing. Okay. Okay. Long look. Safely over. Long look as well. Unobstructed. I like the energy on it, but not quite the line. Speaking of energy, this event wouldn’t be possible without all the insane volunteers and helpers, some spotters out there. And I’m not sure if I have the full list of sponsors, but I can name off Robin Culvin, Allison Rucker, Becky Bear of Desert Disc, Sheila Kirkham, Terry Carver, uh Florence of Amazing Disc, The Las Vegas Challenge, Chris Cobb, John and Stacy Charles along with Paul J. Sacko of course in his law offices, Tina Bratina, Color Your Game, Spinners on the Green, Jan Ser, Jared Lewig, Curtis Vanlike, Devin Sinclair, Clay with Busybees, Prodigy Disc, Jamie Spencer, your TD throwing in some extra cash. Yeah, running out of breath here. So, >> so many incredible people and sponsors and and if I missed you, I apologize, but uh this event has been now going on 19 years and I think I’ve been involved for the last six or seven or so and so honored to do so. >> Is that you? Yes. >> Amy asked if >> maybe somebody left a mini there. >> And Ashley’s like, “Yeah, that that’s a mini.” Yeah. And that’s the one I’m playing from. That’s that’s my mini. Uh we head to hole number 10. One of my favorite holes out here uh that we’ll see. pretty short. 238 feet slightly downhill. And I just feel like you have a couple of different angles you could take. You could go big sweeping anheiser. You could go bullet at it like Jen is. Pretty much a straight shot. You could play kind of a a sweeping hiser or a lazy hiser, I should say. >> Don’t do it. >> You got to miss that tree, though. After a good hard look, they determined that was completely surrounded by water and out of bounds. I love this line. Well, okay. I don’t love that release, but I love the idea of it putting that one out there either flat or even just on hiser angle with the forehand and then letting it track all the way to the pin. But you can’t turn it over that much. Okay. >> Friends with the trees. >> That tree obeyed you right there. Awesome. >> That’s all you need to be friends with the trees and you get a tree direct like that. I like friendly trees, but come on. That was perfect. Anna’s chance to save par. >> Jen’s birdie attempt right side. Feel like this should be one of the easier holes out here. And I guess my math is wrong. It actually plays right in the middle, so to speak. >> Amy able to convert for the birdie. Sometimes just a little tree love is all you need. Less birdies on this hole than I had anticipated. Thought we’d see more not only from the card but also from the entire field and we head to the 11th. Uh certainly not an easy birdie to pick up as you play it downhill. I guess the question is, do you go to the right side and kind of slide it to the pin or do you put some annheiser on it and try and maybe let it turn over all the way to the pin. I like that line, but it’s got to hold it and it doesn’t at the end. Stays in bounds, though. >> Thank you. Jen ripping a bullet. >> She’s going to be deep. >> She hit off the pole in round one. Couple of skips, hits the pole, and then kicks hard to the left, but she’d go on to convert the putt. forehand play. Me not being a forehand thrower, didn’t even think of it, but just about a perfect >> shot for it. >> But that was tentative. Little bit nervous or a little bit shy on the effort. So Jen goes deep and has now got this for the comebacker. Confident >> seven under through 11. >> Okay. No chain. >> Thanks. >> Chain’s not really necessary sometimes from a knee. Amy looking for birdie. And we’re seeing some scoring separation kind of develop here uh within all of the spots actually from one spot to another. Of course, Jen was out to the big league, big lead to start, but uh you’ve got a rightyheiser and you’ve got a lefty annheiser or a leftyheiser, I guess. But the left side, you could pull this over from left to right with like a big swooping annheiser. Or some might think to go this high spiking eiser route and that will work. You could also go up the gut. And you see that the umbrellas are back out. Uh, yes, please. Perfect shot. We busted out the umbrellas back on hole six just for a few moments. Had them out off and on for six and seven. Oh god, did I just say that? I didn’t mean to even say that. Uh if you’ve got kids, you know, uh then we could put them away for a little bit and then we’d get them back out just like this semi annoying sprinkle. I’m just happy we’re not dealing with allout rain, which was very much in the forecast for the day. So, the fact that we’ve gotten this far without it is pretty good. And Jen’s putter >> looking good. >> Nine under through 12. She had the eagle back on hole six. Looks like she’s keeping pace with the morning round. Anna will pull >> within two of Amy. Ashley right now comfortably sitting in second and about to tap in for Birdie, of course. Like, share, and subscribe. Do all the YouTube things. We’ll be moving into the back half of this course with the next video. But leave me a comment. Let me know what you think. I’ll also explain why we’re playing this course and how it’s come about. Thanks for watching. We’ll catch you on the back side.

  1. Thanx for sharing Terry, as always! Makes off season much more easy to cope with, and it is the perfect time to "meet" new players. It is so fun!

  2. Great video, Terry.. I appreciate your posting this video. It definitely looks like something i would save money to do.

  3. When you said "gentle bend" I immediately pictured Grizzly Adams and his pal Gentle Ben. I know. I'm old. 😁 Great coverage.

  4. Nice to see a new track and the former Amy Bekken.
She must have known our good friend and Madison's own Dave Jewell from freestyle and Ultimate. Sadly, he passed unexpectedly in May of 2024 at age 70.

I also seem to think that Amy was a pioneer in Terry's own field of broadcasting, on videos of men's world's highlights throughout the late 90s (could be mistaken, as the name Kreml is stuck in my head, another multi sport disc player).
