A transformative 2025 sets the foundation for a milestone year ahead as the firm approaches its 20th anniversary and a new era of global collaboration.

SAN DIEGO, CA. – As 2025 comes to a close, Pizá Golf reflects on a year defined by visionary design, global influence, and continued leadership in reimagining what golf architecture can be. Led by award-winning architect Agustín Pizá, the firm advanced its mission of shaping golf environments that prioritize wellness, culture, and human connection, reinforcing its role at the forefront of experiential design.

One of the year’s most significant milestones was Pizá Golf’s commission to design an eco-luxury Wellness Golf course at The Residences at The St. Regis Papagayo Resort in Costa Rica. The nine-hole course builds upon the firm’s award-winning Wellness Golf® concept, blending barefoot play, meditation, sociability, and environmental harmony into a relaxed yet refined experience. Designed in alignment with Costa Rica’s Pura Vida philosophy, the project further elevated Wellness Golf® as a compelling model for luxury hospitality and destination development.

“Golf has the power to become a ritual of connection rather than a competition,” said Agustín Pizá, Founder and Director of Pizá Golf. “Wellness Golf® allows people to experience the game in dialogue with nature and with themselves. In 2025, we saw that vision resonate across cultures and continents.”

Throughout the year, Pizá Golf also advanced work on Zitara Ciudad Residencial and Golf Club, a 200-hectare master-planned community in Aguascalientes, Mexico. As construction progressed, Zitara emerged as a benchmark for integrated design, sustainability, and lifestyle planning. With more than half of the land dedicated to green space, the development reflects Pizá’s holistic approach to placemaking, where golf, architecture, landscape, and community coexist as a unified living environment.

Beyond these projects, 2025 marked a powerful year of global thought leadership. Agustín Pizá delivered keynote presentations at Sports Summit Madrid and addressed more than 250 industry leaders at the AEGG Congress in Spain, where he shared his perspective on imagining the future in order to design the present. These engagements reinforced Pizá Golf’s role as a leading voice in the evolution of golf design, sustainability, and innovation.

Innovation also extended into the digital arena through continued creative contributions to TGL, the technology-driven golf league founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. Last month, TGL unveiled “Stinger,” a Par 4 hole designed by Pizá Golf, inspired by Tiger Woods’ iconic low flight shot. The hole features a dramatic natural rock formation extending from the left of the tee box, challenging players to keep the ball below 50 feet for optimal positioning. Those who successfully take on the challenge are rewarded with added roll and strategic advantage on the double dogleg layout. An alternative route offers a safer option to the right, though the design invites players to embrace creativity and risk.

Pizá Golf also introduced “Cenote,” a new TGL hole inspired by the natural limestone sinkholes of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, formations long regarded as sacred by the ancient Maya. The design centers on an elevated green set within the heart of the cenote, surrounded by stone, depth, and dramatic vertical scale. Players are challenged to choose between precision and power, with strategic options that reward accuracy, calculated risk, and creative shot-making. Conceived as a match-play disruptor, Cenote reflects Pizá Golf’s belief that modern golf design should blend cultural meaning, architectural intent, and immersive experience to shape the future of the game.

As the firm looks ahead, 2026 marks a major milestone as Pizá Golf celebrates its 20th anniversary. The year ahead will introduce a new chapter of growth, including several high-profile projects already underway.

“2025 was a year where vision and execution truly aligned,” Pizá said. “As we enter our 20th year, we are focused on projects that challenge convention and expand the cultural role of golf. The future is already taking shape, and we are excited to share more in the year ahead.”

As momentum continues into 2026, Pizá Golf will be onsite at the PGA Show, connecting with media, developers, resort partners, and industry leaders to share key updates, design direction, and what is coming next for the firm. Attendees are invited to meet with Agustín Pizá and the team to discuss upcoming projects, the evolution of Wellness Golf®, and the future of experiential golf design.
