CBS Sports has tapped Golf Channel analyst Johnson Wagner to fill the spot on its golf broadcasts vacated by Colt Knost, who was moved to CBS’s booth two weeks ago, according to people familiar with the matter. Wagner, the former PGA Tour player who has been with Golf Channel since 2023, will serve as one of CBS’s walking reporters alongside Dottie Pepper and Mark Immelman.

Wagner has gained popularity in recent years for his post-round reenactments on Golf Channel’s “Live From.” From the biggest events, he oftentimes would go out and try to recreate the most difficult or most memorable shot from that day’s play. In many cases, the segments have gone viral on social media.

The segments became so popular that Wagner at one point earlier this year traveled the country to try and recreate some of the most memorable shots from Tiger Woods’ dominating 2000 season.

Current CBS analyst Frank Nobilo once worked for both CBS and Golf Channel, but a source said Wagner is not expected to continue his duties for Golf Channel. It’s not out of the question that Wagner could execute the same segments on CBS platforms.

CBS did not comment for this story. Golf Channel also did not comment. Wagner, who worked as an analyst for Wednesday’s Golf Channel Games, is repped by WME’s Jason Horrell.
