I was playing my local 9 hole course yesterday and holed out from 134 yards. First time I’ve ever drained one from more than 20 yards out. The course lists this as a par 5, but anywhere else in the world it would be a simple par 4 hole. Dog leg left, hit a perfect drive, and then holed out on my second shot from 134 yards out. Walked up to the green and was pissed because I thought it had rolled off only to find my ball in the hole. 64° golf in Colorado in December is awesome!

Why? The card said par 5. Congrats on your albatross

  2. Thats_absrd

You hit the perfect shot. Seems like some risk/reward

  3. Important-Oil-2835

Nah you have to have the nuts to cut that corner and carry that drive over the crud on the left. Legit. Well done!

  4. Nomikelnoooo

Yea it’s short but looks challenging as fuck, I’m not surprised it’s a par 5.

I’m feeling this is the hole where I’m thrilled if I bogied.

  6. RembrandtQEinstein

It’s a short par 5, but you don’t make the rules. Congrats!!!

I’m happy if I hit my driver 230 yards 😭

Not your fault it’s labeled as a par 5. I play courses that have basically par 4s listed as par 5s. A par feels like a bogey and a birdie feels like a par, but still, GAM has then listed as par 5s so ill take it

Assuming the distances of the shots is accurate, that hole would be measured 450-460 or so? 420 might be the straight line distance. Measurements usually go down the fairway middle, give or take.

Its 420y from the whites, that seems like a reasonable but short par 5 distance, especially with the dog leg.

302 yards over the shit, big dick swingin

  12. Bird2525

What does the scorecard say for distance, most of non golf sub regulars would have to go around and not over the lake.

  13. Appropriate-Food1757

Yeah a baby albatross, but it counts!

  14. GiraffeandZebra

If you can hit it 302 into the angled narrower part of a dogleg, sure, regular ole par 4. For us mortals I believe the scorecard.

You ripped a 300 yard drive over water. I think you deserve it.

Fuck that dude!  I got an Alby on an par 4 that is only 233 yards.  If you saw the green it would make more sense but the course has it as a short part 4.  Nobody is taking that away from me nor should they you.   Don’t ever say that again!   It is an amazing accomplishment and you should be proud.

Far from a simple par 4.

430 is in par 4 range, but with the dog leg I dont see an issue with it being a par 5.

  18. Candymanshook

If you always play the whites it’s an albatross, you didn’t design the course.

  19. RedFlagFlyingHigh92

That’s a three shot hole for the vast majority of amateurs, forget the yardage.

  20. rabidbills

Congrats, dude! I’ve been playing for years and I’m yet to even have an eagle.

  21. jimsteringraham

Homie there’s no world this doesn’t count as an albatross! This is awesome!

  22. brettmav

Looks like a par 5 to me. That’s a pretty
hard par 4 from those tees. If you can’t drive it 250+ you aren’t getting there in 2.

  23. Consistent_Net_5532

That’s how I feel about mine. It’s 510yds with a slightly elevated tee. Dr to 138yd PW slightly downhill. Did I hit two great shots? Yes. But it still feels wrong. I’ve almost had like 4 there.

  24. Boyota4Bummer

I checked with my local sources (no I didn’t) and the verdict is: That it’s a par 5 no ifs ands or buts. COUNT IT! Boom baby. Sick albo there. That’s one for the personal record book, congrats!

Well done. Take the tross. You deserve it.
