Minnesota running back Cam Davis had his best game as a Golden Gopher against Cal on Saturday night despite the 2714 loss. The former Washington running back carried the ball 15 times for 44 yards including a touchdown. Davis punched the ball into the end zone for a one-yd touchdown run capping off a 16play 69yd scoring drive for the Golden Gophers. That touchdown was his second of the season and Davis currently leads the Gophers with two rushing scores this year. And at Big 10 media days this summer, PJ Fleck announced that the seventh year running back was named a team captain for the Gophers ahead of this season. >> And I I love Cam. Cam was actually just voted a captain of our football team. And I know he was a captain at Washington and a leader, but to do that to be a transfer and have the new team, right, we talked about multiplying talents, right? To come as a transplant/portal, right? uh transfer and then be voted captain before the season starts says a lot about Cam. >> Darius Taylor was ruled out of the game against Cal and it allowed Cam Davis and redsh shirt freshman Febe E I E I E I E I E I E I E I E I E I E I boy an increased role in this offense. The two accounted for 31 of the 37 rushing attempts on the day.
