Hey y’all! Had some quick questions because I’m a bit out of my depth here. Building my golf sim in my basement right now. The screen I ordered is 9ftx13ft. (The mats are 12 feet wide to give perspective).

The enclosure I’m building will go out 4ft and still be just shy of the 9ft height. I’ve got a total of 18ish feet from the screen to the back wall. I’m getting confused on what type of projector I should get.

I’ll be using GSPro and don’t really care about a 4k projector. My options I’m looking at are either the benq TH575 or TH671ST. I don’t really understand how the short throw works though. Ideally I’d like the projector to be behind me and to the right so maybe a total of 10 or more feet away from the screen.

I know these are super broad questions especially when I haven’t finished building it all yet but any help would be appreciated. I would like to maximize use of the screen so maybe like 12×9 image at the least would still be a 4:3 aspect ratio.

Thank you in advance!

Start by figuring out where your tee is going to be located.

A projector located above and slightly behind the tee is best IMO.

It’s far enough from the screen that it’s not in danger of a ball coming back or a sky shot. Being above and slightly behind makes it unseen so you’re not psyched out worrying about bashing the projector and it won’t cast shadows.

If your space is wide enough (14’-ish) it will accommodate lefties and righties with a centered hitter strip and that placement means it’s safe for both.

Take that distance, along with your screen dimensions, over to Projector Central to see what projects fit the space.
