Rosslare Ladies

Storm Bram whipped the plans for our team 12-hole stableford ‘Christmas jumper competition’ on Tuesday, December 9, nevertheless, we bounced into action and enjoyed the rest of the day’s planned activities indoors.

And what a day we had – with pop-up shops featuring La Vista Christmas hampers; Irene Walker Jewellery; Doyle’s Apple Juice; Mavis Nest Handmade Cosmetics; Róisín Doyle Handmade Cards; candles and cosmetics from all About Nectar; Pauline Quigley Glass Design and Vonny Kelly who enthralled us with her cookery demonstration featuring the latest Thermomix high-tech kitchen appliances.

Then the boys and girls of Scoil Mhuire Rosslare treated us to a selection of Christmas songs.

Their singing was delightful and they are a credit to their school and their teachers.

In the very tricky indoor putting competition, Vandra Deacon slayed all before her when she scored two holes-in-one. The best Christmas jumper award of the day went to Irene Walker. Special thanks to the team who put the event together and to the members who turned out in force in storm force ten.

Twenty-three ladies played in the Saturday, December 13, 12-hole singles stableford competition. The winner was Miriam Linehan (23) with 25 points and second was Val Mernagh (10) with 24 points.

Enniscorthy

The AGM of the Enniscorthy Golf men’s club was held in the clubhouse where a large number of members attended to welcome in our new officers for 2026.

Jim Gahan, our outgoing captain, addressed the meeting and stated that it was a great year for the club and one for him that he will remember for the rest of his life.

He congratulated all teams and individuals who represented the club throughout the year, particularly the Barton Shield team who lost out to Limerick on the 20th in the All-Ireland quarter-final, also the men’s Junior Cup team who were beaten in the Leinster Central final.

He also singled out Graham Donohoe, who was third in Irish Mid-Am and fourth in the Leinster Mid-Am.

Our budding you star Ruairi Cooper played great golf to win the Ulster U-16 Boy’s championship, shooting 68 to win by two shots from a strong field.

He concluded by wishing all a happy Christmas and great golfing in 2026, and reminded all that Enniscorthy Golf Club are honoured to be hosting the Irish Senior Men’s and Women’s Am Close Championships in August 2026.
