Scottie Scheffler’s caddie Ted Scott has revealed which PGA Tour legend he believes the four-time major champion is most similar to.

The 29-year-old American has been named the player of the year, joining Tiger Woods as just the second man to win the award four consecutive years in a row.

Scheffler’s enjoyed substantial success in 2025, winning six times – including two major championship victories – alongside 17 top-10 finishes and no missed cuts.

Plenty of golf analysts have suggested his campaign was the most dominant since Woods’ remarkable 2000 season, whereby the hall of famer won nine times, finished in the top-10 on 17 occasions from 20 starts and averaged 68.11.

Scott told Grant Horvat in his most recent YouTube video that there are plenty of comparisons with Woods, but believes Scheffler “is a longer Jim Furyk”.

“Tiger was very dominant with his distance and very precise with his irons,” Scott said.

“You know, I think Scottie’s iron game is very comparable. [He] doesn’t hit it as far past people like Tiger did back then.

“I mean, you think about ’97 Tiger Woods winning the Masters. I mean, he’s hitting pitching wedge into par fives and [we’re] like, what’s going on?

“And then you see the emotion out of Tiger, you know, he’s a very fist-pumping kind of guy and exciting and electric, and Scottie is more quiet and to himself.

“So, uh, so, you know, on paper people don’t think like maybe what Scottie’s doing is as impressive, but to me, I mean, he just – he’s almost like a longer Jim Furyk who’s very kind of like down the middle, on the green, but he’s also got the precision iron game that Tiger had.

“So it’s nasty. It’s a nasty combination, you know.”

In his pomp, Furyk had a highly successful PGA Tour career, though he wasn’t a prolific major winner.

He won 17 titles, including the 2003 U.S. Open at Olympia Fields.

Furyk achieved a career-high two in the Official World Golf Ranking and was inducted into the hall of fame in 2017.

This year, he earned at lest six wins for the second consecutive season in a row.

Scheffler also successfully defended the Memorial, hosted by Jack Nicklaus, cantered to victory at The Open at Royal Portrush before warming up for the Ryder Cup with another win at the Procore Championship.

The only downside of Scheffler’s 2025 was a below-par performance at the Ryder Cup, with the golfer losing four of his five matches.

Scheffler defeated Rory McIlroy in his Sunday singles contest.
