I saw someone else post this but I forgot who it was so I apologise for not mentioning him but I saw him hitting off a chopping board in his living room to get an idea of the lie angle of his irons
.
Its worth noting that if you are going to try this then its probably better with a flimsy lighter option which is more flexible so it doesn’t cause any injuries or broken clubs
.
I was actually surprised at how similar this was to an actual ping fitting board
.
Instead of using tape, (which you could still use if you had some) but marker pen can work just as well as it sticks to the club quite well but will remove when in contact with the board
.
There has been many of debates over the last couple of decades about how legit a lie angle actually is for helping to decide on your spec
.
And a reason for that is actually what mine was seeing here as a prime example, which is also something that I do see quite a lot when people go for a fitting
.
So my clubs are 2º upright in mizuno which isnt as upright as other brands but still more upright than most standards. (The toe sticks in the air 2º more at adress)
.
When I hit the board it always shows that my wear mark is right on the end of the toe suggesting that I should go quite a bit more upright. Howver the problem with doing that is that it will produce more of a right to left shot which is something that I do too much as it is and is always my miss (I never miss right)
.
So in theory I should move it more uprigjt to centre the sole underneath but if I wanted to change it to fix my flight then it would need to go more flat however that is going to sacrifice the strike
.
So ultimately if this is what u are seeing then it is likely a swing issue more than a club fault although it can give you a good indication in some cases
.
I usually think if your around a degree of your static measurement on the ping chart then your never going to be too far away with that unless u are doing something drastic

Terrible golf aid
Luke genuine question, do you sell any of the stuff in your videos?
Bonkers what people will put on here
this has to be rage bait with the sharpe
Looks like the lie needs 1 or 2 *degrees more up
Great idea but you'll never be able to get an accurate result on a soft uneven underlying surface. The impact is absorbed and the board wobbles giving an untrue reading. His marker shows the only thing that touched the board mainly was the trailing edge of the toe which we could all see that the heel at address was the only thing touching. Judging by the setup it can probably be bent 1.5 to 2* flat.
Lmao. Just put a straight marker line on ball and hit it. Way more accurate, easier to see than this method
