The DP World Tour continues its Opening Swing with a second visit to South Africa for the Alfred Dunhill Championship. A quarter of a century on from its inaugural edition, the Alfred Dunhill Championship returns to Johannesburg — the city where it was first staged from 2000 to 2004 at Houghton Golf Club. Following an intense summer in which Leopard Creek hosted both the Alfred Dunhill Championship and the prestigious Africa Amateur Championship, the course now takes a well-earned period of recovery. Last year, home favourite Shaun Norris carded a final-round 67 to come back from six strokes back and win by one shot. Co-sanctioned with the Sunshine Tour since its inception at the turn of the millennium, this year marks the 25th edition of the event. A long-standing favourite of the world’s leading professionals, former World Number Ones, Major winners, Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup stars have all competed in the Alfred Dunhill Championship.

Shaper coming off the boat here. No, he’s wide behind. Normal service resumed. Right. Needs an quick bounce back. And that’s not it. Goodness me. Shaper can’t afford to drop another one. Yeah, that wasn’t easy. Big pack for Shaper. Yeah, no issues whatsoever. It’s okay. Deep breath. Eight holes to go. Many birdie opportunities to come. Good shots. Another one pulled and another one long just uh lost the thread a little bit here as Jaden trying to push it now I think from where he was. That’s that’s a pretty darn good shot. Great release of the club. He got as much spin as he could possibly get. Striking his hand fairly close to the ball. Couldn’t have done much better unless he’d flirted with a fringe on the lip of the bunker. Not worth it. Beautiful. Beautiful. Wow. That’s a That’s a P. This time he avoids the sand. It’s just so hard to get it close to that flag. We saw Oliver Becker there. But if you get it wrong and it drifts drifts slightly on the wind, you can be plugged in the right hand B. He’s not made the birdie since the far five eighth. Just needed an ounce more. Yeah. Oh, the frustrations. Yeah. This final group, one over par between them early in the day was saying I can see them one of them shooting 67 at least, but uh they got some work to do. Yeah, there’s the uh the issue. Lot of speed through the ball and you’re going to spin it. Very difficult to not do that. Tiny bit of right to left at the hole. It’s a good putt. It’s a good try. Yeah, just dived a little right, but he got it to the hole. He tends to get a little bit tentative when he’s in contention with a putter. Just get into the hole, but from that range, that was a good effort. Oh, that’s better. That’s better. Jaden Schaer. He won’t go away. There you go. Friends and family out cheering on Jaden Schaer who moves to within two of the lead with four holes to play on the final day of the Alfred Dunhill Championship here at Royal Joberg. Excellent T- shot. Couple of birdies needed. Fancies it. He fancies it. Yeah, catching that slope. Wow. Don’t think he expected that to break, right? How brave will he be? Yeah, that’s a pretty good shot. Straight at it. Yeah, not going to come up short, that’s for sure. Cuz that’s the end of your tournament right there. Oh, what a birdie from Jaden Schaer. He moves to within one of the lead. Two holes to play. And what a time to do it as well for Shaper. Needs to find the next two fairways. I think he’s found this one. Shaper. Yeah, he has. That’s perfect. Got a great chance now. Antique not so easy to find. First job done. Well, there’s the first birdie he needs. You’d think. Great shot from Schaper. Brilliant birdies at 16 and 17 and Schaper has this par five closing hole to come. Yeah, that’s at that B. You can’t reach that today. Absolutely perfect. advantage shaper. Probably the most important shot of his life. Not happy. The plan was to feed it out right, but he’s he’s overcooked it. 50/50 now, Tony. I’d say making four from there and hopefully not plugged. Chunked it a bit, but he has still got a puck to win. So just a part at the last but a good finish for Schaer. Three Bies in the last five holes to catch Sha Norris. Yes, he’s going to be disappointed not to make birdie there. Stay away from the bunker. Straight in it. Oh my. Well, huge advantage there. Straight away to Norris. Oh, it sounded clean. You’re kidding. What a goal for And his foot slipped. Foot slipped on the down swing. Well done, Sean. That’s sportsmanship for you. That’s what our game’s about. Stunning, stunning shot from Caper, which he’s done. And he’s putting it through the cooch once again to win the Alfred Dunhill Championship. What a putt. And what a finish from Jaden Schaper who wins his first title on the DP World Tour, beating Sha Norris in a playoff. Wonderful stuff. Lovely scenes here at Royal Johannesburg. It’s been coming. Oh, lovely. That really is lovely from Sha Morris. Jaden Schaer is the Alfred Dunhill champion. Congratulations, Jaden Schaper. We’ve seen a few people struggle to get that right up above their heads in the past. To watch another DP World Tour video, click here. And to subscribe, click here.
