Professional Long Driver Avere Dovsek gives a few tips on how to hit your longer irons higher in the air.

Carrington Golf Club in Monroe Township is on the market for $2.5 million.

Carrington Golf Club is for sale.

The 162-acre, 18-hole course is at 911 Saint James Park Ave. in Monroe Charter Township, inside the Carrington subdivision. The golf course was recently listed for sale by Wiens And Roth Real Estate of Lambertville for $2.5 million.

Aaron Wiens, broker and co-founder of the firm, said he’s not able to share more information about the listing at this time.

Carrington Golf Club, according to the sales listing, hosts nearly 30,000 rounds of golf a year and is the site of private and corporate events and travel and local golf leagues.

“Carrington Golf Club has created an economic ripple effect that benefits our entire community,” said John Manor, Monroe Charter Township supervisor. “They have frequently hosted events and tournaments that draw large numbers to our township, many for the first time. They have continually supported local business’, nonprofits’ and companies’ efforts and provide both full-time and seasonal employment to many residents. I am appreciative of the current owners’ efforts to provide an excellent venue for golf and recreation that only enhances our ability to attract new residents to our community. I am confident whomever the (potential) new owners are, they will continue to strive to have that same impact in Monroe Charter Township for the future and beyond.”

According to Monroe News archives, Carrington Golf Club opened in 1998 and was developed by the Carrington Golf Club Development Co., which included Kostas T. Adrahtas, Nicholas T. Adrahtas, Secondo M. Fanola, William P. Michaud and Bernard A. Sieg.

The course, according to the business’ website, was designed by Brian Huntley and offers a practice facility with a 12,000-square-foot putting green, separate chipping green and driving range with bent grass tees, target greens and sand bunkers. On the property is Rivers Edge at Carrington, a full service, year-round restaurant.

According to the sales listing, the site includes a pond, clubhouse and mature trees.

“Very well-maintained course and equipment,” the sales listing said. “Breathtaking scenic views of the golf course.”

Developers first announced the multi-million dollar golf course and residential community project on 245 acres in March 1997. Covering 167 acres, the golf course would be the largest in the Monroe area, according to Monroe News archives.

A summer 1998 opening date was planned.

“The developers said the project will make use of existing wooded areas and water courses. French Creek runs through the site and three small lakes will be created on the grounds,” according to The Monroe News.
