If you look at my entire journey, I had the belief, but the odds were against me. The shades remain on for Ben Griffin. It’s important to reflect because it’s an incredible opportunity for growth. Guts all day long from Ben Griffin. It’s been a truly a breakthrough year. What a moment. Ben Griffin up to the challenge. But it’s also important to look forward because that’s where dreams become reality. He might be one of the most confident guys on the PGA Tour. You know, the sky’s is the limit right now. I just got to keep enjoying it. This is my life. I was in Sea Island before, which was a great place in Georgia, and just kind of came further south. We bought a place last September. We just wanted to kind of change it up a little bit. Jup life, PJ tour cribs, go to a warmer climate, maybe have more options for food and lifestyle and things to do. Newly wets. Just got married at the Colony Hotel on December 6th. felt 25 minutes away. It almost feels like we’ve been married since we started dating because I think when you start to date a tour player, you have to figure out really quickly whether you’re a match or not because you’re spending a ton of time together. You guys are getting exactly what it looks like normally in real life. We always snuggle looking out at the water. Mahalo. It’s nice this time of the year to relax a little bit. Nice. It’s been a crazy journey. It’s a nice view. Ben Griffin, one of the real coming out stories here on the PGA tour this week. If you look at my entire journey, this is something that I never truly foraw. I played well the last couple seasons and they finally knocked on the door and just built a ton of confidence. Whenever I have kind of a setback, I’m like, “All right, how can I use this as maybe an opportunity?” But you got to embrace it and you got to kind of almost start from scratch. Ben Griffin at the 18th. Into the cup. A big fist pump on his hand. Ben Griffin and Andrew Novak are now forever known as PGA Tour winners. I felt like it was kind of only a matter of time. With Andrew Novak, I felt like both of us felt that way and it was kind of a perfect scripting for us to both get it done together at the Zurich Classic. The second one had a lot of meaning, too. being an individual event being a really strong field, a really historic venue, historic tournament. We have a winner. Ben Griffin is your champion of the Charles Schwab challenge. You could say I was very confident from the start of the Charles Schwab. Individually, I I felt like I was able to build off a lot of kind of what we did at Zurich to help me get through and win for a second time at Charles Schwab. All right. The Britain played with the heart of a lion to soar like an eagle. I’ve been kind of trying to let things happen in my career. Honestly, work hard, do the right things, and if that means that I’m going to be at the first tier rider cut on Friday, I mean, it’s like I’m going to let that happen and I’m going to embrace it because all my work has gotten me to that point. Ben Griffin buries it. That is five straight. He’s 27 under, leading by one. realizing that I’m meant to be in these positions and I’ve earned my way into them and I just got to continue to swing and do what I’ve done. Rory and Scotty will have company. Ben Griffin a 63 29 under a new tournament scoring record will be his third win on the PGA Tour this season. Dana is a constant presence out here, constantly supporting you. front row seat to everything that you’re doing. What does her support mean to you? Oh, it means everything. Um, it’s so great to have her out here. I mean, it means the world and three wins and getting married in the same year. It’s hard to beat. Done a really good job of having more fun and letting loose and still being very focused and locked in. This is troop life. It’s been amazing living down here in Jupiter. It’s a great place. We love going up and going to the beach or going down to Palm Beach for a nice dinner. I didn’t see a high percentage of of something like this happening. Let’s put it that way. I had the belief, but it’s just, you know, the odds were against me. I think it’s so rare in life to meet someone that’s actually living their dreams and living their childhood dream. To see him like take that chance in himself and have that belief, it was just another reason to love him. Look at this guy. Too light. I put the shades on and it’s like, “All right, I’m locked in. I’m here to play golf.” I wear them for reasons that aren’t as cool, but at the same time, I try to make them as cool as I can. If I expose my eyes to a lot of sunlight, basically, I just see the floaters. Even with sunglasses on, I see them a little bit, but not as bad because it darkens that kind of the environment. When I first moved down here, I I didn’t really have a home course. Old Palm’s been amazing. It’s been incredible. This has been a great place for me to practice and honestly elevate my game. It’s actually It’s kind of cool playing in the rain sometimes. For the most part though, you get a lot of sun. Still got it. So, here at Old Palm, I have this entire chipping area over here, putting green cut to the little hole. It makes a normal hole look way bigger. It is good practice. And then you’ve also got facilities over here. Three practice holes where I can go and hit pretty much any shot I want. So yeah, great grass down here in Jupiter. Grows pretty well. It’s a great place to practice and prepare for tournament events. That’s a birdie. It’s been amazing living down here in Jupiter. It’s a great place. That’s a three. Chapel Hill will always be home to me. That’s where I spent almost every single minute of my life from when I was zero to 22. Lots of trees, lots of color, lots of personality. We loved the town, a town for a family. We had two sons and Ben immediately sort of picked up the game. He had that golf bug where that’s what he wanted to do. Some kids would get into boy scouts. Some kids will get into the different clubs and and golf was his haven. My grandpa played a huge role not only in junior golf and college golf. Without my grandpa, my dad wouldn’t have learned the game. My dad always played golf. He didn’t get excited on the golf course. He he just enjoyed it. So, he instilled a little bit of that in Ben, too. Was at Chapel Country Club where I was practicing and um basically learning the game. I started really playing golf when I was 10, 11 until the housing crisis hit. 2008 was an interesting time. Both my parents were having great careers up to that point. My dad on the real estate side, my mom on the mortgage side. And so the housing crisis hit our family harder than any other family. It was a tough situation for us because immediately I had to get rid of the home we were in. Basically cut back on stuff that wasn’t essential. He was smart enough to understand that, you know, his parents were struggling a little bit and uh things weren’t exactly perfect and he was rolling with it and saying we can adapt. So I went from Chel Country Club to the public golf course Finley and they took incredible care of me from when I was 12 until until college. It was really cool actually. I would see the golf team out there occasionally. We’d play around with them. I felt like I was almost on the team before I even had gotten to college. Finley’s been the home for the UNCC Tar Hills, I think maybe going on a hundred years. With a public course, it just gets a lot more play. I do very much remember seeing him with like a bucket of balls and he would chip the balls back to the bucket and he’s like, “Well, it essentially it makes my practice go longer and it makes the value of these balls more.” So that place was able to keep me a golfer and I embraced it. I think it made me better from a short game perspective practicing off terrible lies and learning how to, you know, see and visualize shots. This bunker is probably where Ben spent the most time when he was a junior. What he did with his hands and being able to get out of this stuff, it was just incredible. Yeah. We’d pick him up right here. dark. We’d have to come over here and, you know, do a little U-turn and pick him up right here over and over again. Yeah. When I was 16, I knew I was one of the best junior golfers just based on rankings. So, I knew I was I was on a nice trajectory. You don’t ever want to take it for granted that just because someone lives in Chapel Hill that they’re coming here. So, it was a pretty significant moment for the program when he verbally committed. Both my parents went to school at UNC Chapel Hill. it was kind of a no-brainer for me to go there. And I played really well. I was ranked in the top 10 in in college after my freshman fall. And then after the the fall, I kind of had more of a fall off. Um for the next like year and a half, I had a sophomore slump and and really struggled. He had to really adapt to the growth, the size, the what UNCC coaches expected of him. I believe the junior year and the assistant coach Andrew Devatto took over the program. That was a shot in the arm for Ben. He was very involved with each golfer on the team. And so having someone like that was was very helpful for me when I was in college. I think of Ben Griffin. The self-belief man oh man is it it’s it’s always been there. He had an amazing career, two-time all-American, won a couple tournaments, and obviously there were plenty of days of frustration, but he just stuck with it. I just was on a a trajectory of just continually getting better and then I knew I was going to pretty much play professionally cuz that was kind of the next step. It’s just really cool to see the journey that he was on and be where he is. I’m here in Chapel Hill, North Carolina at the Williamson Executive Cup. Just event for all the alumni and supporters and donors in North Carolina to all get together, come out and have a fun little scramble format and just reconnect with everyone. Ben Griffin is an incredible young man. I’m proud of him. I I’ve watched him through the the start and through the bad times and now through the good times and he hadn’t changed a bit. This is my course for 10 15 straight years. Crazy to think about. It’s just special being able to be so close to home and go back to where golf began almost for me. Ben Griffin taps in for his 10th birdie of the day at 18. The breakout year just came. the Smash Out season with his third win at the Worldwide Technology Championship. Is that your boy? Hey, that’s probably Ben. Yes. Yeah, it’s heavy. How many wins? I love it. I know. We’re wrapping them up. You knew you were going to win, man. You know it’s Saturday night. Yeah, pretty much. Unbelievable. Just another day in the life, Doug. Just another day in the life. Let’s go. My name is Doug Sig. I’m the managing partner and CEO of Lord Evan. The whole story around Ben is just so much by chance and so interesting. It’s ultimately became one of the coolest stories in sports. Gall cyclical was playing really well in Canada. Got on the Cornferry tour was a conditional member. It’s tough. You have a season on the Canadian tour that was dominating. Then you go to the next tour and you don’t know when you’re going to te it up next. You’re basically throwing away money trying to make it. Lo and behold, God came down and blessed him with Doug Sig. I met Doug in the fall of 2020. Just a random day in C Island and we went to the first D and it was just Doug and his daughter playing nine. They asked us to join. It was amazing. It was a chance meeting. Had an incredible nine-hole conversation about a lot of things and he was incredibly engaging. We kind of built this connection. He didn’t at all talk about the struggles he was having or anything from there. I could sort of tell how hard it was. I saw the struggles my parents went through and I know how much they were investing in me. People don’t have any idea how much resources are really needed for a player to perform at the highest level. It’s hard to play really good golf when you see your credit card statement at 70,000 in debt on top of my dad paying for my rent. He was very, very conscientious about how much this was costing. I was just at a point where I was like, I’m so much in the hole. I don’t see myself getting out of this hole. That’s when doubt sets in and you start to lose some of that self-belief. I wanted to get away from golf. He made the decision that, okay, dad, I’m coming home and I’m going to get a job. And he just did it just like that. And then when he came home, he excelled in the mortgage business. I knew I was done. I did not want to touch a club for a while. I wanted to start something fresh. And I’m loving this new opportunity in front of me. Randy Myers, who was a joint friend, you know, sent me a note and said, “You should sponsor Ben.” I was open to the idea. We never sponsored an athlete or anything like that. A lot of us love the game of golf. It’d be fun to sort of help somebody who needs help, and Ben sort of checked all those boxes. This golf course, my um office that I was working in was right there by the 13th. So, pretty crazy. I spent a lot of time here. Yeah, it brings back a lot of memories. It wasn’t until late July leading up right before Q school where some things happened and it just sparked a light in my brain that I need to go take advantage of this opportunity. I was just driving to work subconsciously drove to the golf course. I pulled in and I was like, “What are you doing?” and turned around and went into work like nothing happened. But that was right around I think that was maybe a few days before my my grandpa passed away. His favorite quote was hit him long and straight. That hit me hard when I was working a desk job. That was a big reason why I got back to golf for sure. Those two events happened kind of simultaneously. In the back of my head, I’m like, man, Doug wants to sponsor me. At the same time, the Price Cutter Cornfair event is in Missouri. I’ve got to go try. Maybe if I make it, like this is my sign. I need to go back to golf. I go into that Monday qualifier and hit it out of bounds in the first hole. Whatever. Classic. Like, I’ll go back to work. And in the back nine, I went on a run and shot a 65 and Monday qualified in the corner event. I called Doug back and I asked him, I was like, “Are you still willing to because I’ve got this new rejuvenated energy that I didn’t have and I’ve got things telling me I need to go do this.” Feeling pretty good about it, honestly. He called. He said, “I’m going to win on the PJ tour.” And I said, “Ben, that’s the second craziest thing I’ve heard you say in the last couple of months, but that certainly sounds better than being a mortgage broker.” We agreed on a handshake to sponsor him. September was first of school. made it through. Played really well on the Cornferry tour right at the start. Had four top 12s in my first five starts. Two seconds. Pretty much had my PJ tour card in February of 2022 and I was working a desk job in July of 2021. Crazy crazy journey. I had huge dreams and aspirations in golf and Doug was able to help support me in that endeavor of coming back. It helped me gain some self-belief. When you give somebody the chance to do something they’ve dreamed of for their entire life and then they go do it, that is just something incredibly special in this life. So, this was Ben’s first win with Andrew Novak. Love what he wrote here from the Zurich Classic. Uh, we were always going to win on the PJ tour. Thank you for making this dream become a reality. Team win for the whole firm. Let’s go. Typical Ben and a great win. Every parent wants their child to succeed in whatever they do. And to see the progress he’s made from 9 years old through college and then persevere through ups and downs, it’s amazing. My stories showed a lot about the importance of self-belief. Don’t push an opportunity to the side, especially if it’s something that you believe in. You never know when one moment might change your life. Welcome to Miami, the Indonito Miami. Being down here in Florida, being out in the nice sunshine, going on beach walks, whatever it may be, it’s been really fun living down here. We’re at our spot. Let’s go. Pretty much right when I met Dana, kind of got more into health and wellbeing. Dana and I are predominantly vegan. I’ve been eating fish this year. It’s been good from a protein standpoint for me with the increase in working out that I’ve been doing. If you feel good and you’re playing good golf, something must be working. Hi, how are you? Omar. Yeah, that’s me. Appreciate it. Thank you. Thank you. Got to get a smoothie when you’re in Florida. So good. Let’s go. Crunch bag. Appreciate it. Thank you. Enjoy. Oh yeah, we will. Mhm. Did you get that? It’s been awesome living down here, exploring new restaurants. I feel like we’re finding a new spot almost every week. It’s been a really fun place for us to enjoy our life kind of outside of golf as well. Golf is funny because it’s an individual sport, but when you surround yourself with the right team, it leads to amazing results. And I think this year just goes to prove he’s surrounded by the right people. Knowing that you have support in your corner and fortunately for me, I had a good group around me that all wanted me to succeed. Doug is a really important person. He actually officiated our wedding. He’s had such a profound impact in Ben’s life. It was incredible honor to be able to officiate Ben and Dana’s wedding, but he’s really grown to be almost a part of the family. You know, there’s multiple texts all the time. It’s great to have that relationship. Ben’s done a really, really smart job of putting the right people around him and creating an incredible environment for excellence. Good. I’m very blessed and grateful for a lot of people in my life that have given me this opportunity. I mean, I’m working with Derek Smith, uh, my trainer down here, pretty much every day when I’m here. Good. Now we’re at Dererick’s house in home gym. This is his garage. He basically bought all this equipment. Continues to buy new equipment that he thinks will help my game. And then it’s just going to resist you on the way up. Here you go. Push. Good. I’ve been battling this quad tenonitis where if I put weight on my left side at any given moment, it could it would flare up. Hired Derrick on the road for physio. And after working with Derek, he was like, “Dude, we got to strengthen around your knee as fast as possible.” Good movement, just quicker now. There it is. And good. So, the initial plan was just kind of making sure the knee is great. And then from what I saw, he moved really well. It was just about gaining strength on top of that. Once I started seeing results in the gym, I gained a ton of distance this year. And that was right when I started having success. And now it’s more about building strength and taking advantage of the offseason that we do have. What I always kind of notic about him, he was pretty calculated, even beyond golf. Having a lot of success in the first year is pretty rare. To see him kind of have that breakout year has been a lot of fun. Here we go. One more. 1,00. Good. It’s interesting to see right now with the way golf’s kind of progressing. guys are younger and stronger than ever and it’s definitely correlating to better golf. Just got to keep up. It’s nice this time of the year to relax a little bit leading up to the season and then get ready for 2026. I just got to keep pushing, keep working hard, and um and keep enjoying it. It’s easy to kind of burn out in this game. I’ve done that before. It’s important to kind of balance everything in life and then kind of make sure I’m still motivated to win.
