So much for retirement.
One year afer announcing she would start to wind down her professional golf career, 11-time LPGA Tour winner Lexi Thompson is in the thick of contention with 18 holes to play in a pro event.
This week, Thompson has teamed with PGA Tour pro Wyndham Clark at the Grant Thornton Invitational. Through two rounds, the pair of major winners are just two shots off the lead held by Lauren Coughlin and Andrew Novak.
Charley Hull and Michael Brennan are in second at 18 under.
The format for Sunday’s finale will be a modified four-ball, in which both players tee off, switch balls for their second shots and then play that same ball until it is holed.
