The 2025 Grant Thornton Invitational is the lone mixed-team event on the PGA Tour and LPGA’s schedules.

This is the third year where 16 teams, each featuring one LPGA golfer and one from the PGA Tour, are tackling Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida. Keep tabs on the Saturday action right here.

The team of Lauren Coughlin and Andrew Novak fired a 4-under 68 in Saturday’s alternate shot portion of the 2025 Grant Thornton Invitational. They lead by one shot over Charley Hull and Michael Brennan.

“We hit a lot of greens,” Coughlin said. “I don’t think we really had to chip today, which is always nice in alternate shot. You have it pretty stress free, just hit some putts and try to make birdies.”

The duo made a birdie and eight pars on the front nine, but the back nine was far more adventurous. Back-to-back birdies at Nos. 12 and 13 were immediately erased by a double bogey at the 14th, but Coughlin holed out from the greenside bunker for eagle at the par-5 17th.

“She hit a great tee shot [on 17],” Novak said. “I was in prime position and didn’t really do much there. Kind of left the face open. I hit it fine, on the middle of the face. Face was open, left it right. Probably not the spot to miss, but didn’t matter, she picked me up nicely there.”

Now, Coughlin and Novak sit in prime position to win the $1 million prize that comes with the Grant Thornton Invitational title. Novak is well-versed in winning team events. He and Ben Griffin were victorious at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans earlier this year.

The two had jokes after the round.

“I want to win,” Coughlin said. “He said he’s [going for] like the grand slam of team competitions tomorrow.”

“Yeah, some are calling it the modern day grand slam,” Novak replied with a laugh. “Zurich, Grant Thornton. Obviously thinking about my legacy a little bit tomorrow.”

Lauren Coughlin and Andrew Novak took the solo lead at 19 under just before 4:30 p.m. ET thanks to this incredible shot from Coughlin out of the greenside bunker at the 17th.

Alternate shot is notoriously the toughest of golf formats but that wasn’t the case for the all-Canadian team of Brooke Henderson and Corey Conners, who fired a 5-under 67 in the second round of the Grant Thornton Invitational — the best score of the day.

“We just have a really nice energy between us, I think, and amongst our caddies as well,” Henderson said. “Makes a great team. Corey was hitting it really close for me today so I was able to roll in some putts, which was really nice. I feel like once we made a couple birdies, then we really had a lot of momentum.”

The duo made seven birdies Saturday.

“We just kind of [stuck] to our normal game plans,” Conners said. “You know, I got a lot of faith in [Henderson’s] ability and know that she’s going to hit a lot of really good shots. I feel like just trying to treat it as normal a round of golf as possible, try and keep it in play and try and get as many looks as possible, just keeping it simple.”

Keep the putter in the bag, Mike! Kim and Rose Zhang got to 15 under with this shot and they sit in solo seventh as of 4 p.m. ET.

Charley Hull and Michael Brennan just keep cruising along. The duo made back-to-back birdies on Nos. 14 and 15 to take a two shot lead at 19 under just before 4 p.m. ET on Saturday. There’s a tie for second between Lexi Thompson/Wyndham Clark and Lauren Coughlin/Andrew Novak at 17 under.

Lauren Coughlin rolled in this birdie putt to give her and Andrew Novak the lead just after 3 p.m. ET.

A beauty here from Chris Gotterup gets he and Jennifer Kupcho into a tie for second.

The team of Charley Hull and Michael Brennan is 1 under for the day as they turn to the inward nine. They sit at 18 under for the tournament, leading by one over the team of Jennifer Kupcho and Chris Gotterup.

The final group has teed off and we are fully underway in the second round of the 2025 Grant Thornton Invitational. That final group includes the two teams tied for the lead, Charley Hull/Michael Brennan and Lexi Thompson/Wyndham Clark, who both scrambled to a 17-under 55 in Friday’s opening round — a tournament record.

Two groups had record days on Friday. Moments after the Charley Hull-Michael Brennan signed for a 17-under 55, the Lexi Thompson-Wyndham Clark twosome matched it. Each pair had two eagles, 13 birdies and two pars on the par-72 Tiburon Golf Club. That was in the best-ball format. Saturday’s second round will be alternate shot.
